iOS5 - Text tones & vibrate not working

I am having the same issue. Worked for a while, then quit now I get no vibrate or tone.

So, after a day or so of testing, it seems to be consistently working. I tested 6 or 7 custom text tones out with no problems whatsover. As long as you keep the text tone above 2 sec and below 5 sec, you should be able to avoid problems without having to reset your phone.

Thanks for the info, but that's ridiculous if that's the fix. I bought and paid for iPhone alert tones from iTunes. Why in the world would I have to then go and figure out a way to hack them up to work on the iPhone? Surely that can't be it...

I'm having the same issue I think. I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS5 and none of the text tones, including ones that came with the phone, are working. Neither is the lock noise or any other sound effect. And the phone is not on silent. Any solutions besides resetting settings?

I'm having the same issue, and funny enough with the Mario Coin sound as well. I'll fix it in Garageband tonight and see what happens. I am sure that it's under two seconds so I'll extend it with some silence.

I wonder if just extending the "loop" line at the top works?

I agree, it's completely ridiculous that anyone should have to edit any custom text tones since they added it as a feature, but for now, I want my phone to work, and I want my custom text tones to work since everyone and their momma seems to use Tri-tone...I have the .wav editing software, the know-how (it's not hard at all), and a bit of free time (doesn't take long at all). So until Apple fixes this, I will make do.

My text tone is still working fine since I downloaded it again on the 17th. I used the Shower Scream tone by the way.

But that's not really the solution. The "R2-D2: Curt" alert tone is over 2 seconds, about 2.2 or so. I hacked around on the "R2-D2: Happy" tone and took it to about 2.2 seconds, and it now works fine (though my modified version shows under music/normal tones, not alert tones). The Curt tone still doesn't work. It doesn't even vibrate.

Something is actually BROKEN.

My iphone 4 upgraded to iOS 5 has stopped all vibration alerts since being upgraded. I havent actually tried resetting it but I dont see whay I should have to...will try that today, but didnt I already do something liek that when the upgrade came through..sheesh!! its really getting on my cruet! I believ its a glitch in iOS 5 and it needs to be fixed before Apple becomes a complete laughing stock over it.

I have this problem too. any help yet from apple? will restore if a bug fix isn't coming

Having the same problem. Glad I searched the issue to see I"m not the only one. I agree with others why should we have to fix what they sold broken. My tunes that I've made on my own work, its the ones I've bought from Apple that don't. GRRRRR Keeping my fingers crossed for a solution. I don't like to waste money.

After upgrading to iOS5 vibrate stopped to working on my wife's iPhone 4. It works fine on mine.

I have an iPhone 4, and have upgraded to iOS5, and am recently running into the same issue with Text sounds. It was not working at all, my phone would just vibrate (and yes, I had checked the silent button).

It does appear to be related to the iOS 5 update.

I have tried a hard re-boot, and sounds now seem to be working ok, but I'll have to see if it stays "fixed" or not.
