Buzzing noise when iPhone 4s vibrates

My new 4s buzzes loudly when the unit vibrates. It is not the sim slot or door as the noise exists with the sim and door out of the phone. The buzzing is almost as loud as an audible tone and quite annoying and distracting. Anyone else with this issue?

My 4s did the same annoying buzzing while on vibrate.

After the third visit at the store and the eleventh!! 4s, I finally got a device that is not as bad as the others!

Not at bad means that it still buzzes on occation...

IÂŽll probably wait until Apple fixes this issue and return this one as well.

I cant believe that so many people just accept this noise. I spoke to 4 geniuses, all of them told me that I am the first one with this issue!

I must say, I am very disappointed in the quality of Apple. Had to return my MacBook Air 3 times as well!

Hey Brandon, it's Brandon.

I called up Apple Support and talked with a Senior Supporter about this issue. I just wanted to say thank you for putting this audio file up, as it was much easier to describe the issue to him if he listened to it. I sent in my iPhone just earlier this week, and they ran diagnostics on it stating "the reported symptoms were either resolved or not reproducible". Which when I opened it out of the package, it still made this annoying sound. The Supporter mentioned this was unheard of, and in the four years of iPhone's, this issue has never arisen. He said he will give me a call back in 4-5 business days, after he gets a hold of an Apple Engineer who worked on my iPhone 32GB 4s. This link, which I e-mailed him, will be an excellent tool to help them and in turn us.

I hope this issue gets resolved in part of me heckling them on the phone numerous times, and from the pre-made audio clip you had!

Thanks!

Hey guys,

I recently has the same loud buzzing with my iPhone 4S. I setup an appointment at the genious bar and when I got there the guy looked at me like I was crazy. I love apple but he did not seem to care. i told him some of the demos did not make that noise( i tested prior to my appointment). He told me that some of the different models for ATT or SPRINT are made a little differently and mine which is Verizon just makes that noise because of extra space and that the motor in the new 4S is EXTREMELY powerful. lol. He even told me his did it, and let me hear the buzzing from his.

My response was simple, "Well I guess yours is broken too." I insisted that he replace it since I have only had it a couple days and he did but warned me that it would make the same exact noise. I said,"If it does ill stop crying and leave". haha. So a little time passes he comes out with a new replacement and we activate it. I have him call it from there, and what do you know... This 4S doesnt make that loud annoying vibration at all. I said thank you, he noded then I told him that he should call Applecare and get that loud buzz on his phone checked out.

Moral of the story guys is this, Whatever they say is because they are jsut trained to do a certain job a certain way. No offense to them, he was just doing his job and didn't look into it further than that. But because of this specific thread and all of you having the same issue I decided to be persistent. So whatever they say, just insist they replace it. You will more thank likely get a quiet vibrating one like the one I have now. I hope this story helps some of you.

Umpf...I got the same problem...but my was perfect in the beginning...it started buzzing yesterday, after a full e

Week! :(

For this reasong I am esitant to change it, because I could run into more severe problems (yellow screen, no voice during calls, static noise) and then after a week having again the buzzing vibration noise! :(

So for now I went with a less annoying costum vibration pattern!

This is a hardware problem, but I wonder if apple could fix it with a software update limiting the power of the vibration model...I think it could work, but is this even possible?

Me and my girlfriend bought one each and mine is perfect. Silent and nice but hers wakes me upp. It's very loud. The problem here in Sweden is that I need to return it to the carrier which in turn will send it off, it takes weeks without a phone. *****! Hope they do a free recall of faulty products. Love Apple but come on show us why we should still!

Same problem here. I wish there was a way to merge the similar posts about the 4S rattle problem so Apple can see that it is an issue. So far I've dealt with 4 Apple employees for this issue. The first, an in-store Genius, told me that since his phone also has the rattle it must be normal. The second was phone support. She told me that I was the first person to bring this issue to her attention and it definitely isn't right. She suggested I go to my local Apple store and ask for a replacement. I did, so now my third Apple person was a Genius. He again told me that even though he could hear the problem it sounded normal to him. I called Apple support again (employee number 4). Again they said that I was the first person to call with the problem. She started to suggest a restore but stopped herself cause I think she realized how dumb that was about to sound. In the end she basically said to deal with it and call back if it gets worse.

Awesome job on this one Apple. Please officially acknowledge the problem so your employees can get on the same page.
