Buzzing noise when iPhone 4s vibrates

My new 4s buzzes loudly when the unit vibrates. It is not the sim slot or door as the noise exists with the sim and door out of the phone. The buzzing is almost as loud as an audible tone and quite annoying and distracting. Anyone else with this issue?

One thing is for certain. I've got a clear comparison of two iPhones (4S) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ_viy9HIWw), and as you can see the black one is MUCH worse than the white. (I'm not claiming the colors makes the difference here 😝). And my other freind has one that doesn't do it at all. So thoose saying the iPhone is supposed to do like this, what's your explanation to this? Apple just admit that some of your iPhones are bad so we can get ours swapped for a new one. 😟 This problem is much worse than the antenna problem the iPhone 4 had if you ask me, I had no reception problems at all... But this time, I just want to throw my phone away everytime it vibrates!

I have been having the same problem and my iphone 4s is only 3 days old.

I recently has the same loud buzzing with my iPhone 4S. I setup an appointment at the genious bar and when I got there the girl looked at me like I was crazy. I was told that it is normal and that i shouldnt worrry about it. I love apple but she did not seem to care. i told her some of the demos did not make that noise( i tested prior to my appointment). She even told me hers did it, and let me hear the buzzing from her. I didn't hear anything when I listened to her phone.

She then told me that her phone is new but eventually will get loud, when I asked her when she purchased her pho e, she hesitated at first and then lied to my face that it wasnt even a day old.

I insisted that she replace it since I have only had it a couple days but She said that there was nothing that apple can do about it as it the vibrator. I actually believed her when she said that but never imagined that others would have gone through the samething. I can't believe I was lied to just so that they can get through their appointments ASAP.

Moral of the story guys is this, dnt believe what they without doing research first and Whatever they say is because they are just trained to do a certain job a certain way. No offense to them, she was just doing his job and didn't look into it further than that. But because of this specific thread and all of you having the same issue I will not rest until i get a proper functioning phone that i paid for. So whatever they say, just insist they replace it. I hope this story helps some of you.

Just to let you guys know that I've had this problem too - the iPhone 4S I received last week made a high-pitched buzzing sound when vibrating, far louder than the iPhone 4 and sounded like something was loose inside or on the frame of it. At first I was reluctant to do anything about it as it was hard to get and I thought I could ignore it - but when your iPhone is on "silent" in a meeting or by your bed and you can hear it as loudly as if the tones were on, it's just not worth putting up with. Not to mention that if it sounds like something inside it is loose, it might well be!

I'm in the UK and got mine over the phone with O2, so I just called them up and spoke to tech support - I made the issue sound a bit worse than it was since if I'd said it was buzzing a bit they'd have told me it was normal - and they were really good about it and said they'd replace it. Just got the replacement one today and it doesn't buzz at all. Moral of the story: this is an issue and it isn't normal, so keep complaining until you get your replacement!

Just got my white iPhone 4S 16 GB in the mail yesterday. It does the same thing. I called AppleCare tech support on the telephone and describe my problem to them. My phone has a loud buzzing. It also has a high-pitched whining sound when the vibration goes off. I compared my phone to four of my friends iPhone 4S iPhones and my phone is definitely louder When I pinched the two lower corners together I can get the noise to disappear slightly. Tech-support over the phone. after I describe my problem to them offered to send a new one in the mail or go to the store to pick one up. I'm headed to the store to pick up a new one in a couple hours.

So another follow up from my post a few up from this one. I picked up my replacement iPhone from the store. The whining sound was gone but it vibrated even LOUDER then my other phone. I couldn't tell this in the store because of the noise (being black Friday weekend and all). I called AppleCare on the phone again. They shipped me a new one over night. The third phone sounds perfect. I've heard some reports of the problem starting after a few weeks for some people, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Until then I've got a fully working phone.

I've had the best results with talking to AppleCare on the phone and being very detailed with my complaint (and polite). They suggested on the phone that I go into a store, but I indicated I had already been to the store and was not interested in returning for this problem again. I was fortunate enough to have a few friends' iPhones to compare it too, which adds a little objectivity to the complaint. I did not purchase AppleCare, but they offered to waive the $39 expedited replacement fee as my phone was only 1 day old when I started my complaint.

Those having trouble getting yours swapped out: be persistant, be polite. If you are within the first 30 day window, don't hesitate to let them know you're considering returning it for an Android phone.

Best of luck.
