Ditto for me... AT&T 64G Black 4S.

Randomly freezes 3 or 4 times a day. It either goes black and then 20 to 30 seconds later the unlock screen pops up or I get a frozen spinning circle like you see when you power off. I've only had to hard reset a couple of times it usally comes back on it's own. Doesn't seem specific to any app I'm in at the time. Has done it on mail, various games, etc...

Very annoying... going to hang tight for a bit to see how apple addresses. Too many people reporting the problem for it not to be systemic.

Saw this posting. Im having the same issues. North Pole doesnt freeze as much as my 4S!!

I thought it was an issue from a bunk back up that failed from my 4 going to IOS5 that failed mid back up. When I restored it from the bunk back up, I had to create a 4 back up it from a fresh restore. Pain in the arse! Then, the 4S came out. And had to try and restore it form the, seemingly, still bunk back up. Nothing but issues. With Siri, location map, iCloud, PAIN! So, I brought it in and got a new one. Set it up fresh from iTunes. Still, same issues. New 4S, new account, all of it. No fix in sight.

So Im setting up an appt with the genius bar, make it thier problem!

I have done full restores, got a new phone, cancelled all current apps, restarted, turned off iCloud, turned off Blu tooth, called Verizon, talk to the genius bar, done resets, everything every blog and posting and apple store has suggested. Nothing has helped. I have a third appt with the genius bar today. This issue really ****** me off. My iTunes have been tweaked for the past 8 years, so another phone won't work, unless anyone else can tell me where I can get a 64gb phone that syncs with iTunes???????

Wow i can't believe my iphone 4s from AT&t is also freeszing. I called Apple tech and they made me do a factory reset, great, everything working great, and bingo, when i slide to enter passcode, it freezes, then i have to hold the start button and the home button to reset, it works for a bit but then, BANG, it freezes again. I have a ticket to Apple tech, i tried calling today, but Sunday closed. I will call tomorrow and ask for another phone, my luck, now i have to take half a day from work again just to get another phone, i hope they dont give me a hard time, how does the process work, once tech gives you the blessing that it's no good, then you can go to the store, or can i jusgo to the store without asking. Thanks all. Hope i don't get another one and it freezes also.

So here's what I found in my case. My Exchange server was conflicting with my location services on my phone. It was constantly trying to sync. I removed the Micrsoft Exchange services and now no issues. Odd tho as I'm the only one in the office having that issue out of two dozen people who are also using iPhone 4s and the exchange with either yahoo, MSN or google. Hhmmmmmm.

Same problem. Went to Verizon and they fixed it once. (Technician used his fingers on screen to get it oujt of frozen state) Than three days latter, same problem. Went back to Verizon and they could not fix it this time. Something about placing three fingers on the screen to reset. Came home and I tried it. I place three fingers on the screen and made it move from the frozen state. Than I double clicked on the home botton to bring up my running applications. I held down the APPs with 3 fingers until it moved. Than I held down one app to brink up minus sign which allows you to delete apps from the running screen. Now everything is running again. Verizon Manage said that there is a website that talks about positioning you fingers on screen to activated an unfreeze state. Has anyone found this site? Going to Apple store tomorrow to explain what I did. This is not good. I hope Apple is reading these complaints.

One thing I learned at the Apple store was if there isanapp andypuwant to complatley close it down, not just x it out in the multitask menu, that when the app is running or frozen, you hold the power button till it says "slide to power off" then you let go of the power button and hold the home button down and that forces the app to completely shut down. DO NOT HOLD THEM BOTH DOWN TOGETHER. one, then the other. That helped in a few instances. But I had to cycle the phone on and off a few times to get it to totally re-sync my iCloud and and Yahoo.

My phone went back to freeze again. Verizon could not help me this time. Went to the Apple store (Manhattan Beach, Ca) after making an appointment (very important). Went right in and they fixed the problem in minutes. There is a command that is called "Voice Over". If this is set to "ON" then it will keep freezing. It is not "Voice Control". Two different things. The Apple Rep did the following: It has been two days and still running.

1. Go to Settings

2. Select General

3. Go to the very botom of the list and select "Accessibility"

4. Turn "Off" Voice Over

Thats it. So far so good. I hope this helps
