I just picked up my 4s after ditching a 3G. The only reason I ditched the 3G is cause apple updated the 3G os to multi threading and everything stopped working. The gps would never load and apps of all kinds would crash." Apple if your gonna update please leave old os downloads still active .. Ty ". Now, I bit the bullet and bought this 4s. I figured I would have a working phone ...eeeehhhh wrong. I'm sure apple will fix this but I can't get into my apps or get online sometimes. I have rebooted the phone, let it sit off and tried numerous things to figure out why this is happening. It seems to be completely random and happens when I don't use the phone. It doesn't stop working while things are running. It either works or it doesn't when I pick it up and wake it. It happened right before I looked this up. Then it just worked. Battery is a issue too, used 10% writing this. I hope apple is on top of this and it gets fixed quick..

Same prob. iPhone 4s is less than three days old. Froze once on first day, then four times or so the second, then more than five times today. Annoying. Have done iTunes restore from backup (haven't tried as a new phone since the original three days ago...after all, it is still a new phone for goodness sake!). None of the Accessiblity features are turned on (Voice Control, Three Finger). Off to the Apple store tmrw...

I have had this same problem and I have been able to resolve it everytime by going to the app store on my phone. The first few times some of my apps had updates available and when I updated them then all the apps worked. Yesterday, they all froze and I didn't have any updates. I downloded and app (just a random free app) and then they started working again. This issue is has always been resolved by doing this. It seem random and I can't explain why this works but it has for me so far. Hope that helps!

My 4S freezes too. I often cannot hang up calls. I turned off Siri for a day, then turned it back on. It's been 2 days and it hasn't frozen since. Since Siri is the big added feature I figured the problem must stem from there. Coincidentally, I am getting less apologies fron Siri too. It is hardly a permanent fix, I am sure. But, until Apple finally responds to us with the promise of an update/fix it is something to try.

Resetting and restoring didn't help.

My iphone 4S froze today for the first time. The battery was about 1/2 gone so that doesn't seem to be the problem. It started with an inability to use the keypad for sending an email or typing in the search bar. It proceeded to an unresponsive SIRI and then when I tried swiping to go to the settings icon, the screen just froze in mid-stream. I must say this is very disconcerting and something I didn't expect at all with this phone (guess I should have read ahead!). I've had the phone since October with no problems. I never leave apps running in the background and always plug it in before the battery expires. I don't play any games on this phone at all. I have backed up to both my computer and the Cloud. So, I will try the reset suggestions here and report back.

Do iPhones get viruses?

If you changed your i4s setting to VoiceOver 'On' your phone appears to be frozen and it talks to you every time you touch the screen. However, it's not frozen. Slide your finger across the screen and the phone will automatically take you to the next display function on your phones screen. Example: VoiceOver is located in Accessibility but I can't scroll down - the screen is frozen! Not really, slide your finger over the screen like you are turning on a button sliding to the right and the phone will scroll down to Accessibility for you with each swipe of your finger- watch as it scrolls. In this way you will be able to access the VoiceOver. Once in VoiceOver simply take your time in turning it off. Practice this then you will be able to turn off and no worries, phone back to normal. Typically for me I suffer ID-10-T (Idiot) errors but I eventually figure it out.
