Well, I just caught my iPhone4 trying to Wifi sync on its own when it was not connected to a power source. Came back home and as soon as I came in, I found the error up on the screen. I cleared it and pulled up iTunes and noticed that it was syncing my iPhone. My iPhone was sitting on the desk in front of me at that time and was not plugged in. This is the first time I have actually caught it performing the wifi sync while it was not plugged in.

This was with iTunes 10.5, iOS 5.01 on a Win7-64bit system.

BTW, the sync did finish successfully.

This is a post regarding the Windows version of iTunes and the specific error that is tied in with this thread, for the Mac version of iTunes which is having the identical issue - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390119

My original post should hopefully be here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390119?answerId=16865973022#16865973022

If that does not go directly to it, it is on page 10, about 8 posts down the page.

Here is a little bit of info that I haven't seen posted yet... but here, if it helps anything. I went to the "Help" menu and chose "Run diagnostics..." to provide more detailed information, hopefully. The output is below, but of great note is that all tests PASSED with no reported issues. This looks to be one of the most comprehensive posts as far as providing detail and screenshots, both... I hope to see this very annoying issue (for many, many users) resolved soon! Both iTunes and iPhone 4 firmware are up to date. Here is a screenshot of the issue in action:

I just posted the following reply to the Mac forum. I thought I should post here as well since I am using both Windows and Mac:

I am running both a Mac with 10.7 and Windows 7. All softtware is fully patched as of 12/4/2011. I was/am having the same problem on both platforms. The issue is spradic and does not seem to stop the phones from syncing as long as I acknowledge all of the error messages in iTunes.

Since this issue seems to affect both Mac and Windows, I decided to reboot my NAT router (D-Link DIR-655). After restarting, both platforms seem to work well for a few days and then the errors start occuring again. I have not tried sniffing traffic and it maybe less effort to try replacing my router.

I suggest that posts include network equipment, since the issue may be outside Apple's control.

Also having same issue with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit machine, iTunes 10.5.1.42 & iPhone4 5.0.1 and iPad 5.0.1.

PC is pluged into ethernet port in TimeCapsule running latest firmware, iOS devices connect via WIFI.

At least twice a day I find iTunes has a pop-up window detailing the error. The actuall issue doesn't trouble me as much as the fact that iTunes won't try to continue or do anything else until you click ok. To this end I have setup a vbscript that shuts iTunes down four times a day and re-starts it, helping with the issue.

I've also seen my iOS devices trying to sync when not connected to power, so something very odd is going on here. Running diags from help menu shows no errors at all, green ticks all the way.

Having the same experience with 3 iPhones (a 4, a 4S, and a 3GS), an iPod Touch, and 2 iPads (a 1 and 2). Using iTunes 10.5.2 on Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit).

I'm in full agreement with the person who referenced their previous Zune experience. I never had this sort of trouble with either my Zune HD or 80GB and WiFi sync worked like a charm. (I won't even get into how much better it seemed to handle album art.)

I have been following this thread for some time now as I have had this error since updating my iOS devices(2 iPhones and 1 iPad ver1) to iOS5. After trying many things here and elsewhere I found on the internet, I think I have solved my issue. First, let me say thatI had the 0xE800007F error along with some mDNS (Bonjour errors in theWindows event log). In the end, I had 2 issues:

1. For the Bonjour Windows event log errors I had to allow Private and Domain access through my firewall to the following:

a. iTunes

b. Bonjour

c. SyncServer (I had to manually enter this as it was not listed in thefirewall)

2. For the 0xE800007F error I had to enable my router to allow multicast streams. I have a Linksys E3000 router running Tomato firmware and this is blocked by default. I also believe the stock Linksys firmware and many other router firmware blocks multicast by default as well.

After doing the above, I rebooted the router, the computer running iTunes and all iOS devices and all seems well. I no longer have any Windows event errors and WiFi sync is working flawlessly.

I will update this post if something changes in the future, but I hope that this will be the fix and I also hope it will help others on this board with the issue.

Still not syncing wirelessly here. I have a 3GS, Windows 7 32-bit, and a D-Link DIR-625 router. I have followed all advice on this forum so far, including: check "sync this device over WiFi" and sync; enable MultiCast on my router, disable and reenable UPnP, Multicast, and iTunes Wifi Sync settings, restart the computer and iPhone and router; forgetting my home network and recreating it on my iPhone (yes, they are both on the same network); enabling home sharing in iTunes. I have checked all the Windows network settings. I also checked if my router has a dual band setting as suggested by one person, but it does not.

Despite all of this, I'm still getting "Sync will resume when [My PC] is available" when I go into the WiFi sync page in the settings on my iPhone. Anyone have any further advice for me?

I'll join the list. The error message seems to pop up every 5 minutes or so. Just strated when I enabled wifi sync. Will disable for now.

Using latest versions of ios5, Win7 Ultimate, iTunes 10.5.2.11, iPhone4S, iPad 2.

Error message says it's the iPhone that's having the sync issue. Dismissing the error message lasts about 5 minutes. Have noticed the phone syncs wirelessly when not plugged into power. Sync completes successfully with or without error message for both iPhone and iPad. Just an annoyance as it pops up constantly. Router has multicast enabled.

Any advice would be appreciated.
