After all the BS I've endured with this phone (4s), I'm hoping, as a last resort, for iOS 6 to solve everything and make (finally after 6 months) my $750 piece of crap phone actually useful for something. The update is coming up quick, and I've been hoping against all odds that this will once and for all have some sort of fix for my problems.

I have to say though, that I'm not holding my breath. And I've grown deeply disappointed and disillusioned with Apple and all their products of late. If I get no satisfaction from this update, I'm resolved to cutting my losses and going Android. Apple has inevetably grown too big for their britches, and just don't give a damm about a minority of their customers that 'may' have a problem. I'm disgusted with them.

Mine are crossed as well.

This is the time for our question, witch will affect my future smartphone selection.

So, Hardware or Software guys?

If this is solved in IOS6 they have re-gained my trust, and maybe somethime in the future, I will get the iPhone5.

If hardware, I will never never ever never buy another Apple Product!!!

PERIOD!

(ps: Fingers stilled crossed)

Just now downloaded iOS 6. Took almost 2 hours, but then internet here is crap anyway. Was actually lucky I had a consistent connection while it loaded.

Anyway, I haven't had much chance to test the "call failed" problem yet, but I did notice when I checked the "Show My Caller ID" part, it was 'OFF'. After I switched it to 'ON', and checked again a few minutes later, it showed 'OFF' again, ***! I did this several times, same results.

Also, after downloading and updating the iOS and many apps, I did a 'reset network settings', then checked the 'show caller ID' and it was off, turned it back on, checked a few minutes later, it was off again!

I'll give it some time to see how things go the next few days, but I ain't holding my breath - again! Will note any changes, improvements, or lack thereof here as I find them.

Edit: Should probably mention (if I didn't already somewhere in this discussion) that I've got a white iPhone 4s, 64 GB, factory unlocked for GSM, and using it in Thailand with GSM sim card.

No body wants to know the solution I posted this a while back.

I had all the issues with my iPhone 4S I narrowed it down to the modem if 3G was disabled it worked if it was enabled the issue was intermittent.

I spoke to a genius and explained everything I did I even tried putting my sim into a different 4S that I knew worked and there was never any issues. I came to the conclusion that it was a fault with the modem inside the phone the fella agreed with me.

So I swapped my phone and it worked no more issues

The only solution existing is a new phone as I said in an old post on this discussion it's like taking a lucky dip you may have to try a few times and I know it's annoying but I only replaced my phone once and never had any issues since.

You will get call fails from time to time if your in a poor area or if the other person your contacting is in a bad area. I've had about 2 maybe 3 call fails since I replaced my phone (which was about 3-4 months ago) but I know my house has a poor signal and I know the person I contacted lives in an area with poor signal. If am out or I phone someone in a good area I have no problems. I'm living proof that replacing your phone fixes the issue.

P.s. using my phone to type this so CBA fixing typos or grammar.

I've had my black iphone 4s 16 gb for 8-9 months now & i never had the issue of failed calls or any of the above mentioned problems till now .
I recently upgraded to ios6 & ever since that update I get a "Call failed" message evry time i call someone !
What do i conclude of this?........ios6 The CULPRIT ?
I tried resetting the network & phone but nothing works !

Hmm... interesting. Because with the problems I've had all along I was hoping iOS 6 would resolve them, and it didn't. And therefore I concluded that it has to be a defect in the phone itself. But now that you say you've had no problems until you loaded iOS 6, it makes me wonder again.

Since my last post, I've had a chance to further test phone calls and I'm still getting "call failed" messages with almost every call. That's with the 4s 64 GB, factory unlocked for GSM, iOS 5.1 and since upgraded to iOS 6. Same problems, no difference.

Biggest deal to me in all of this is that Apple continues to ignore, or at the very least refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and/or address the problem. And with recent problems I've had with the iPhoto update for my MBP, and sketchy reviews on OS Mountain Lion, a rather unspectacular iOS 6 (IMO), and other issues, I'm beginning to lose faith in Apple's commitment to produce top-notch, customer-first oriented products.

Has Apple grown too big for their britches? Is it time to go back to (the now little guy) Windows?? 😮

I had a 3GS until last week when I got a new iphone 4 with ios 6. Since then I have most of my calls dropped, normally after less than a minute, sometimes the other persons voice sort of sticks, like a stuck record and I have to end the call. This is very frustrating - had no problems like this with my 3GS. Looking as this forum it's not looking good to get a fix which is depressing. Maybe I should cut my losses, sell it quick and get a Galaxy

So, I just started having this problem. And then I put my bumper case back on. Apparently, some of these issues are caused by receiver/transmitter interference. The bumper acts as a ground. Having it in your hand diffuses the signal. Tried all of the turn-this, turn-that off stuff. Reset my settings. Nothing worked. Put my case back on and reception ensued. Twenty buck fix.
