My iPhone 4s phone call failed more than 50% times, some times people can't hear my voice, is there anybody else has same problem?
Ok. I lied. The real problem i faced has to do with settings--phone--show my caller id. You need to sellect show my caller id and then let your phone cycle through. Do not attempt to adjust the setting; just let the phone find your setting and then back out. That's it (for phones on att at the very least)
I too am having the same problem.
I updated to the latest OS early last week and things were fine. 2 nights ago I experienced a drop call and have not been able to have a successful call since then. Most of the time it's not successful in connecting, and if it does it drops. Battery life has been draining too at an alarmingly fast rate since I've started to experience these problems. Any software patches coming our way so I can use my phone again??
DaraB224, I had the battery drain problem myself for awhile. I found it was caused by the phone losing the cell signal, then constantly having to re-search for the signal.
If I was able to catch it ("no signal") in time, I would put the phone in 'Airplane' mode for a few seconds then switch it back again. That would usually clear the problem, and my signal would return. If that didn't help, I would shut down then re-start the phone, and that helped. But then you just never know when the phone will lose that signal. So you may pick up your phone after a few hours and find that your battery is drained!
We've been around the horn with this on this forum for some time. I have written to Apple detailing my problems. I am convinced they are aware of it - and just don't care. I am totally disgusted with their lack of concern and failure to acknowledge the problem. I will be looking elsewhere for my next phone...
Samsung GalaxyS III perhaps? It's really been tempting me....
Okay from what I've experienced... it is the caller id issue. I resolved it on my IPhone5 by turning show caller id off, making a call, then turning it back on and waiting for it to cycle. (About 5 seconds)
Yeah there's definitely something screwy about that 'Show Caller ID' thing. I've noticed it in the past, but can't put my finger on what it is or how exactly it affects anything. Sometimes it shows it's on, sometimes shows it's off. When I turn it on, I'll check it later and it's off again. Doesn't seem to be any consistancy - one way or another - in how or when or why it does whatever it does.
You say you've got the iPhone 5 and you're having these problems?? That's something new, at least as far as this thread is concerned. In fact that throws a whole new monkey wrench into the works here, as I assumed everyone here was having their problems with the 4 or 4s phones (mine is a 4s).
Somehow, and I may just be wishfully thinking here, that would seem to indicate that it is indeed a software problem, and possibly fixable (in the future). Which would suit me far better than knowing my phone is an $800 paperweight. But as I say, I ain't holding my breath...
I'd be interested to hear any developments (or lack thereof) with your problem with the iP 5... Keep us posted here if you would please!
Actually DaraB, I never liked Samsung's stuff. Not sure why but there's just something about them I never liked.
To be honest, if this iPhone thing doesn't get taken care of, I'm gonna buy the cheapest-@ss phone I can find, for like ฿1,000 ($30), just for phone calls, and just use my worthless iPhone for a paperweight and occasional iPod.
Or maybe I'll just let all my frustrations out and heave the piece of junk into the Andaman Sea for ha-ha's and let some shark or sea turtle deal with it!
I did indeed have the problem with my Iphone5. I never experienced it with my 3 or 4. When I upgraded, i started to see call failed after most every call. It seemed to particularly happen If I did not "End" call. I tried just turning off and turning on the "Show Caller ID" setting and saw no change in the the way the phone behaved. So I tried it again, making a few calls with it off, (Shows a blocked ID to the recieving number) Then I turned it back on. It's been 36 hours now... no failed call errors.
Thought I'd update my situation here...
After all this time and all the troubles I've had with my 4s, I finally have a permanent solution: My phone totally died - kaput - kablooey! Yup, dead as a doornail!
I had it charging one night, went to disconnect it, and noticed it was really hot to the touch. Moreso than it sometimes would get. I just shut it down and went to sleep as it was late. Next morning I went to turn it on, and - nothing! It just didn't turn on...
I tried everything I could think of: re-start, hard re-start, plugging it into my computer, etc. Nothing! So I plugged it into the charger again (wall outlet), and was able to get it started. I did a total reset, wiping out everything, and when it got to the part to plug it into iTunes I did that. Nothing! It came up with the initial white apple logo thing, then shut off, then went on, off, on, off.
I had it plugged into iTunes (it didn't even show the phone there) and did a DFU start, and it finally came up and said it detected the phone in DFU mode. I thought, "Phew, finally I can get it back to square one at least!" iTunes asked if I wanted to restore as new, I did, and when it went to restore it came up with an "unable to restore" error message. And that's as far as I got with it.
So now I've got an $850 dead iPhone (I have a feeling that the battery is fried, and maybe fried other things too!), had to go to my provider to get a sim for my old vintage 3g phone just so I'd have a phone to use, and went to a couple of shops here to see about repair. None of them offer repair services. Here in Thailand, there are no official Apple Shops. There's places that sell them, legally, but they don't offer any repair or warranty service unless you originally purchased the phone from them. So if I am ultimately able to get it repaired, by a 3rd party hack most likely, my warranty will be voided. Not that big a deal since the thing was essentially worthless at this point anyway. I'll see how that goes once I find a repair place and report back here for anyone curious.
In the mean time, I had talked with a German friend that has a 4s he bought in Germany. He said he has no problems with his (black phone, 32 GB), but his son in Germany has a white 64 GB phone (same like mine), and has had lots of problems with it also. And his friend who works at the Apple Shop where he bought his in Germany, says they've had lots of problems with the 64 GB models. As a bit of a saving grace for me, my friend is heading back to Europe soon, and offered to sell me his phone before he goes, as he wants to get the iPhone 5 when he goes back.
As disgusted as I am, I have to admit that I really liked the phone, outside of the problems it gave me. I have to believe that there is a design flaw of some kind with that model. And the fact that there's never been (at least as far as I've heard) any admission or acknowledgment from Apple about these problems, convinces me that they are in fact real. And I believe that they do know about the problems - and just don't care. Apple = Arrogance!
My lesson learned, and a warning to anyone thinking this way, is that I thought buying the phone in the USA for use here in Thailand would be the safe thing to do. NOPE! Stuck here with no way to replace or complain about it, this turned out to be a huge - and hugely expensive - mistake! To anyone and everyone: Buy your phone in the country where you will use it! And be sure you have a legit warranty to get it repaired or replaced if necessary!
Hi xDonx,
Could you please tell me how did you downgrade your phome firmware,
Much appriciated,
I have an iPhone 4S on 6.0.1 And I'm still receiving the same problem
My iphone 4s (6.0.1) have the exact same thing, cant call or receive call in 90 percent of cases, and a message turns up that somebody tried to call me, like 1-3 hours later?.. It often wont send messages either. The first signs of this problem started occuring about 5 days ago. it's practically a r*tarded calculator by now!.
by the way i also just updated to ios 6 one or two weeks ago - IT IS DEFINITELY A FIRMWARE PROBLEM!
I just can't believe that i have to waste my time on downgrading the firmware now.. seriously apple, i can't even describe how disappointed i am to see that so many people have had this problem SINCE JUNE THIS YEAR! - I have only had or a few days and i am close to pull my own hair out. Its unbelievably frustrating to stand with a perfectly good iphone 4s (which is a rather large investment i might add), and not being able to contact your family or your friends. i havent even been able to text them that my Iphone is f***ing up, and that is why i dont answer there calls, messages and my voicemail doesn't even work, because that is not working. - Then you turn to the internet to collect some information on what the heck is going on with your phone, only to find a gazillion other frustrated users who couldn't find any help either! And it seems its not a completely new issue.
I'm offended an appauled to discover how you are doing business and i seriously hope that you have people working night and day to set straight what you owe to your customers and fans.
I have been a inverterate apple-fan for 7 years now, i've had every single version of the iphone except the iphone 5, four different macbooks and all kinds of other stuff. And i just can't believe that it seems that that is coming to an end...
