wait whay? i have tried everything to fix this. ITs very annoying. How do you fix?
I too have same problem since 6-7 days from India and my iphone is only 6-7 months old .
My IPhone always shows full bars but neither able to call anybody nor able to receive calls. I am sure its not a network issue because after Restarting my Iphone the problem seems to be resolved for next couple of hrs.
Please suggest me!!
Thanks 🙂
Problem: My iPhone 4 won't end my call, saying "Call Ending" but not "Ended", and the button is greyed out.
My "temporary" solution...
1. remove the sim card
2. make a phone call without the sim card. (Now your phone will be forced to end call.)
3. reboot your device once
4. insert your sim back. Then it should fix the problem for you.
This has helped me a couple of times. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not. Please try it and tell me the your result.

******** I got it in the wrong order 2 & 3 **********
I've had this problem too since iOS 6. I regularly get missed calls but the phone doesn't ring. Then I get a text message saying someone tried calling. This happens even when I'm sat next to them with full bars of service. I have just switched off 3G and roaming data. Since then - no missed calls. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Software problem I think.
Still working and even getting calls at work when phone is just sitting there, this hasn't happened for months! Turning 3G off has sorted the issue of getting missed calls and the phone not even ringing. Also used to get the issue when I called someone that phone would say they were busy. Not anymore. Apple need to sort this so I can leave 3G on continuously though.
Can I ask why more people aren't just scrapping their iPhones and moving on? I am on my second 4s with this problem, I certainly wouldn't be taking this pile of poorly made Chinese scrap back and replacing it 9 times (like one poster I read here!). What's going on - just walk away, Apple are losing it big time and I for one am losing my love for the brand (I have a house full of the stuff!).
I have gone through seven iPhone replacements because that is the only solution Apple Store "genius bar" employees in three states offered as a solution to my problem. Even after iPhone 5 became available and the latest OS released, they offered no other option. Given that all the stores' employees AND managers neither denied nor admitted that this was a known problem on the 4S, and while I NEVER asked for a new phone, (in fact, I stated did NOT want a new phone because of all the hassle of set up and lost contacts etc), that I was almost cheerfully offered a new phone each time, says to me that Apple acknowledges this phone is messed up beyond repair by OS fixes, and has trained every employee in every store very well to keep this whole mess quiet untii it just goes away with the release of the iPhone 5. I did not "scrap" this piece of junk because of the cost of the phone itself and because I am tied to a two year contract with the carrier. What still shocks me as I have said in many other posts here, is how successful Apple has been in keeping stories about ths flawed product out of the media, I have encouraged everyone else experiencing this problem to contact the tech editors of their local, national, and interational media outlets to please look at this forum and publically ask Apple what they are doing to fix it. I seem to be the only voice who has tried this, and am too tired to continue. BTW, replacement #8 is doing much better. Fewer "call failures" and "dropped calls" as well as the garbled voice quality finally are tolerable (although not fixed altogetehr). Then again, maybe my expectations have been so lowered after a year, it just seems that way to me.
Have to agree with your assessment here Unhappy. I'm totally convinced it is indeed a hardware problem and not a software problem. Apple will never own up to it, unfortunately. Their reputation is now more important to them than their customers.
My problems are pretty well documented here, and after my initial 4s went kablooey on me I purchased a used phone from a friend. Mine was a 64 GB unlocked 4s I bought in the USA. His was a 32 GB 4s he purchased in Germany. He let me use it for a few days with my sim card to see if I had similar problems, and i didn't. I bought it because I just needed a phone, and I do really like the 4s outside of the call problems I had.
But I did notice that the signal strength with the 32 GB I bought from him is noticeably weaker than with my old 3G I was using in the mean time. Same sim, same carrier, same location, but getting 3 to 4 bars with the 4s compared to a full 5 bars I had consistantly with my 3G. That tells me for sure it's a design or hardware-related problem!
Anyway, I've had good luck with the 32 GB he sold me. Weaker signal bars but no problem with failed calls or general call service (so far). I've since sent my 64 GB phone in for repair, and if it comes back fixed properly I'll decide to sell one or the other of them. In the mean time Apple's rep takes a big-time hit in my eyes. I'm fed up, and as we say here in Thailand: som nam nah! (They get what they deserve!)
I have had this issue with my iPhone 3G, my iPhone 4 and still with my iPhone 5. So, I'll hope Apple will fix this issue. It's very anoying...
Well after all the crap I had gone through with my 64 GB 4s, and after pretty much giving up on it and buying a second phone (a 32 GB 4s, which has been working just fine!), I finally have a happy ending to report.
As there are no 'official' Apple stores here in Thailand, and dealing with Apple USA was just too much hassle logistically, I resigned myself to bringing my phone to a repair place near my home that 'specialized' in Apple products. I knew it would void my Apple warranty, as the phone is still only 8 months old, but I was desperate to get some closure out of all this and hopefully get the phone repaired at least to a point where I could sell it and regain some money lost.
When I brought the phone to these people, it was totally dead. It wouldn't boot up under any circumstances, and I had tried everything I could find to get it going, to no avail. When they took the phone in the guy was able to plug it into a computer and even told me that it's still under warranty. I was surprised, and asked him if they would honor that warranty. He told me he wasn't sure until he actually found out what the problem was, but he would try his best. Okay, sounds good, but I honestly wasn't expecting much.
They called me a week and a half later and told me the phone was ready to pick up. So I got there yesterday, and lo and behold they gave me a totally new replacement phone - and it didn't cost me one red cent. I was shocked! But I was still skeptical until I was able to get it home and put my sim card in and give it a try. When I did, the thing worked perfectly. I set it up as a new phone, inserted my sim card, and everything was perfect. Shock #2!!
So now I plan to keep it for awhile and keep an eye on it to make sure everything is good and no further problems. Once I'm satisfied, I'll sell one of the two phones I (now) have, and recoup some of the money this entire fiasco has cost me.
I would suggest to anyone having similar problems to go to Apple and insist they take care of it, even if it means they give you a working replacement. I truly believe that it is a hardware problem - and they know it - and if your phone is under warranty they owe you a working phone!
And to any iPhone owners with problems here in Thailand, I can highly recommend Alpha Phuket, located in Phuket Town where they have a few locations, including a shop at the Central Festival Mall. These people are very good, totally honest, and apparently have some sort of connections with Apple to be able to remedy a situation such as mine. I'm a happy man now, and can finally stop posting my long and boring posts here chronicling all of my exasperations and frustrations!

Ok, here is what I did and it worked for me at least (after trying restore, changing 3G, hard reset, removed sim, on and off etc etc)
Settings > phone
then select and let it cycle through:
Call Forwarding
Call Waiting
Show my caller ID
without changing the setting.
works fine now.
THANKS!!!! Pierre du Plessis, works for me too. I was trying restore, 3G off, reset, removed sim, all but this trick resolve the problem. I have an IPhone 4S 16 Gb 6.0.1. , this problem begun two months ago and was very tired about that, sometimes even did a call during all day.
Try resetting network settings and re-seating the sim card. Also, take it out of the case and re-try some calls. If that doesn't work contact AT&T and find out what the coverage is in your area. It all of that fails restore the device in iTunes and set it up as a new phone. Updating iOS helps as well.
Pierre du Plessis,
Your solution worked for me. Before, I tried to restore my iPhone 4.
Thanks.
