My iPhone 4s phone call failed more than 50% times, some times people can't hear my voice, is there anybody else has same problem?
I have the same issue
AT&T - iPhone 4S, 64gb, dropping calls and experiencing failed calls much more frequently than the iPhone 4. very disappointed... I talk over 6000 minutes a month and need the phone to function. thought the new dual switched antenna would help but it is worse. and Apple has no intelligent response yet. I have done all the resets and tried factory restore and setting up as a new iPhone but still having the issues. I think the best bet for now is to return the 4S and use the 4 until something is done.
I bought an iphone 4s 64gb black and I have experienced dropped calls more than 50% of the time and more importantly, I have called my husband several times and he has stated that his phone did not ring. At first I did not believe him, but now after reading these posts--he was telling the truth and not trying to avoid me. In all seriousness, this issue of dropped calls and people not receiving my calls is just not acceptable. Apple had better find a fix for this or I will purchase an android phone like the one my husband has.
Before Apple updated the OS, my husband's iPhone 4 worked brilliantly. He loved that phone, but since the upgrade we've had nothing but problems. Unfortunately, I'm not so lucky as he who can reset his old OS. I have the new iPhone 4S. When I tried to tell the Verizon store what was going on, I was told to go to Apple to deal with it. Needless to say, I am not happy at all. I never had any problems with my HTC Incredible. I wanted the iPhone so that I could sync my iTunes music, movies, etc. However, this new phone has caused me more grief than anything. 😟
Just three hours ago The Los Angeles Times reported this: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2011/11/iphone-4s-problems.html
Same problem is driving my wife nuts too. She has an iPhone 4S 16GB AT & T and on many calls she cannot hear the other person. This is especially not good since her phone is for business with clients.
Hi Everybody, LISTEN, Go to Apple store right now to get your phone replaced, it is a HARDWARE problem not software.
I went to Apple store second time for same issue, first time experience i wrote above, and today i went there, they even didn't make any test call and replaced my phone, and the funny thing is, the phone which they give me can't read the SIM card,( another boken worse phone? Aha!) i ran to them again and got a second time replacement, and finally everything seems fine now.
The reason for don't wait is now they give you brand new iphone4s because they haven't had time to recondition them, i am worry about if later they will replace your phone with a recondition one. So, act now!
That's good to know. I have a friend who works for Apple and when I ran it by him, he didn't seem too sure they'd replace it. He said if it was a hardware issue, it would happen ALL of the time. It happens A LOT but not all of the time. Now and then I get lucky and can make a call. I still think it's the phone. My husband's 4S has been fine. I have an appointment on Monday at the Apple store. I need to back-up my phone at home first this weekend. Crossing my fingers for Monday.
I called Apple support last week told them my issue after a little research they came back and stated that it appears to be a hardware issue and that I should get it replaced. They made an appointment for me at my local Apple store.
Knock on wood! So far so good for me. I got my phone replaced last weekend and still am not experiencing the issues that I was having with the previous one.
I have, as many others, catastrophic reception on my new iPhone 4S. I might add that I also have an iPhone 4 and if I put the same MicroSim in this phone then the reception is flawless. The problem is essentially the same as the one that many other experiences, five full bars, and (in my case) Tele2 3G. If someone tries to call me they are immediately sent to voicemail. If I try to make a call it fails, then the bars go down one by one until no service is shown, then the SIMsearches for reception and usually succeeds after about 1 minute the bars appear again. Sometimes I then can make a call but nine times out of tenthe procedure will just be repeated again.I can of course manually get my bars back again via either reboot or by taking out and putting in the SIM again or by activating and then deactivating flight mode, this does not mean that I get actual reception, I just get the bars and operator name back and the phone seems to have reception. That is until I try to make a new call...One can't turn off 3G in new iOS5, however, one can select operator manually. Carrier settings in iOS5 defautls to "Auto". If I turn off auto and select Tele2's 2G network nothing happens. I can turn off the "auto" but it is just says "Searching...". If I go back to settings and then back again the carrier settings are in "Auto" mode again.I have made several re-installations, both from backup and as a new phone, turned on and off the PIN code, deactivated and activated Location services, made hard resets, etc. Even after the latest beta, which was released developers today, was installed and all procedures were done all over again with this OS the problem persists. It is simply impossible to either make or receive calls with my new iPhone 4S. It can do lots of fancy stuff but as a phone it is completely useless and I am compelled to to go back to using my iPhone 4 for now.You would think that Apple would ensure that at least the telephone part in both hardware and software are operating properly before releasing them to consumers. It's called "iPhone" - not iPod, iPhone, iGame...iPhone is primarily a phone and customers buying it would at the very least require it to be able to make and recieve calls or maybe it's asking too much? What is also very strange is that even if a lot of consumers complain about the above bug, not only in Sweden but all over the world, Apple does not mention this anywhere. Not on their support pages, not in their developer community, not to their dealers who certainly had a lot of support calls from unhappy customers who believe that it is an operator error.Incredibly bad service by Apple to release a phone that can not be used as a phone and even worse to not quickly recognize this error and publish what's causing the error, that they're working on resolving it, and when it will be resolved.I work myself as telephony manager at a company that uses just the iPhone and there are now quite a few new unhappy iPhone 4S, and where I take a lot of support concerning these bugs and have to get them temporary solutions until the bugs are fixed.I use to commend both Apple and their products, but my conviction on Apple's excellence has been significantly tarnished. This is BAD Apple, hope you get your acts together a.s.a.p. cause both your phone and your service really ***** in this case.
Only way to get attention is to flood apple with info on this matter: fill in form at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and let them know..
To everyone replying!! I had the same problem too!!, The phone is a portable PC & very good one too,but if you want to make a call or txt it does NOT WORK, its a chocolate tea pot, send it back or get a refund untill the poxy things get updated so they can be used as a PHONE,
Tried the unplug/replug headphones trick. It did not work. My Mic is not working at all on a iPhone 4S 64GB Black. Works fine on speaker mode and through external mic (on headphones included). Tried Restore, DFU restore, so only option left is replacement! Have found a lot of posts about this issue. 9th iPhone- 1st hardware problem.
hi have my 4s only 4 day it first started giving problem on the day in the shop they swapped the first sim as this was this could not find network(o2 ireland) the second sim could recieve text and internet but no call. after several calls to o2 in shop they addvised me to go home and connect to my i tunes and do a restore when home did this phone worked fine until monday then no calls all failers went back to shop Carphone warehouse there the phone worked perfect 30 calls no problem they rang o2 and they gave a no. for apple. apple said it was a hardware problem and to replace the phone. phone worked fine in shop and around town. but home again failed calls no text or web except wifi.but still have 4 bars been on to o2 and apple they say go to shop get sim replacement this after rebooting phone and reseting setting about 5 times. apple said do a restore again but every time i try to download the software it spends 40 mins downloading then say error server has timed out. i feel like i am going around in circles. went out to night for walk around block 5mins from my house i was able to recieve and make call starting to get very mad wish i never got i phone should have stayed with nokia.
I'm from Singapore .. Bougth iPhone 4s 32gb , 3 days before -since that day I can't even make one
Proper call.. Most of the time no service or can't make a call.
If some one call then the call divert to voice mail box..
Then I wanted to restore my phone but apple server 'time out '...
Now I'm thinking what's the purpose of having iPhone 4s???
If I go to get replacement then I'm scared that replacement set might have battery problem or same signal issue
So better throw the iPhone 4s ... No need to bother about all this nonsense :(
Just spoke to Tele2 a swedish telecom provider that I got my iPhone 4S 16gb from. I have had the same problems with dropped calls. Luckily my company had one iPhone 4S lying around and yesterday I tried this one and it works without any issues.
Well now to what Tele2 told me. According to them Apple has confirmed that there is a software issue on some phones, this will be solved with an update from Apple. I'm on a mailing list from Tele2 and I will get an email when this fix comes out. They couldn't say when, but said that they are working hard on this.
