PLEASE Stop Ignoring Me!!! iTunes>Touch Sync Disaster!!

Alright, plain and simple. I created a "book" from a PDF, copied it into the Books folder in the iTunes Library upper-LH corner. I then went down to my device, selected the "Books" tab, and clicked sync to add the book to my iPod Touch 4.

What did iTunes do? Started to sync EVERYTHING that was already on my Touch!!! And all I wanted to do was load a lousy DOCUMENT onto the thing! Now I have to copy ALL my music, photos, videos, EVERYTHING because I canceled the sync. I saw what iTunes was syncing: It wasn't just syncing the book it was syncing EVERYTHING!!!!

I'm really starting to get tired of iPods and iTunes and would really appreciate a step by step walk through so I can figure out what I'm doing. I'm really lost. I've posted a lot of problems I'm having on and and I'm just being ignored. How would you feel if the same thing were done to you??

Please help me straighten out this mess!

Thank you, seriously. I'm at my wits end.

Normally when you sync with iTunes it will read your data on both the computer and the iPod touch and update the changes. That is what you system is doing. It will read all your data but update only your changes. Take a look at his doc, in chapter 4 it explains it in more detail. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_touch_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf

Thanks Eric. Unfortunately that's not what happened. I had to delete everything from the Touch(not iTunes) and start all over. I have also downloaded and installed the iBooks free app, but it can't see the document in my ipod Touch's Books folder as viewed on iTunes.

sorry Eric, I really need to have my hand held walking through this mess. I'm clueless!

Eric:

This:

Set up iPod touch for manually managing content:

1

Connect iPod touch to your computer.

2

In iTunes, select iPod touch in the sidebar.

3

Click Summary at the top of the screen and select "Manually manage music and videos."

4

Click Apply.

Add items to iPod touch:

Drag a song, video

Does not even exist. The option to "manually manage music and video" is simply not there! ***?

sigh...Found that, thanks! Now I can start reading stuff when I'm out and bored. LOL!

And a big DOHHHH!!!! to myself: Manually Manage stuff I had to scroll down to select the option. Once I did, all options under file(including playlists) and under all other tabs became available. I can now rebuilt my dozen or so playlists!

I am REALLY so bad at this, I'm stumbling rather than learning. Technically I shouldn't even OWN a iPod or iPod Touch. I just don't know what the heck I'm doing. >:(

Eric I gotta say, all this happened over loading a PDF "book" onto the thing. iTunes synced everything, screwed up the album art on a lot of my podcasts, and created general mayhem! I went iPod early September, and now I'm wondering if that was such a good idea. I spend hours per DAY with this thng instead of with my wife, and she dosen't even know who her husband is nowadays.LOLOL!

It seems like the iPod was rolled back about a week and a half for whatever reason!

But thanks for your help and next time I'lll read under what tab I'm in before hitting "sync". LOL!

signed,
