Having the same problem... Worked yesterday and not at all today. Went through all the fixes. Just talked to Applecare and they said they were having server issues.... Over-loaded & working on it. Said it's still in Beta and they have things to work out. Said when they release the non beta all will be working. In the mean time he said try it later and see if they've resolved the issues. If not, call back tomorrow... Bummer... Iguess everyone is trying to show off Siri at the same time.... Looks like Apple may need a few more server farms....

I understand your frustration, but...

Apple took the unusual (for them) step of releasing Siri as a public beta. (To my recollection, they haven't done that since the public beta release of OS X in 2000.) It is generally understood that "beta" means that the product is still in development and may not work as one would expect a final-release product to work.

The Siri feature is clearly marked as beta (see below) on the Apple website. It was stated in the October 4 announcement event, which is viewable on the Apple website, that the service is beta. Nobody tricked anyone into buying the phone under the guise that Siri was fully developed.

This is not a good arguement. Apples stock and credibility relies on the fact that they interface with their customers well and don't ignore us. The right response would have been to notify iPhone 4s users about the blackout, be it planned or unplanned. We understand tech isn't perfect, but avoiding the issue altogether and hoping no one notices is the worst PR move they could make. They left millions of customers frustrated and in the dark.
