Oct 17, 2011 1:14 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby mr.prince,I've been experiencing intermittent service from icloud since it was launched. At first, I had a problem sending out email from my @me.com account because the smtp server was down and now problem with push notification. I'm pretty sure its icloud coz my other email services are working just fine even if the mail app is not running in the background.

Oct 17, 2011 12:52 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby matthiasfrombraunschweig,The same problem:
(1) close all apps in the background
(2) restart your iOS 5 device
(3) send an e-mail from another client
(4) waiting for push mail
--> it should work at this time (there is no mail.app in the background)
(5) now open the mail.app on your iOS 5 device, and send it to the background
(6) send an e-mail from another client again
(7) waiting for push mail
--> it works (with the mail.app in the background)
(8) now close the mail.app completely (kill the app from running in the background)
(9) send an e-mail from another client again
(7) waiting for push mail
--> it doesn't work

Oct 17, 2011 10:54 AM in response to Christian Rouxby a_lexus,That's right. it just doesn't work. I don't know if the Apple team already recognized it. The only thing I know is that it ain't working correctly and that's a pity.
I hope Apple will do anything to leave us not alone with that problem.

Oct 17, 2011 11:19 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby side-burn,Count me in as one of those with push not working. Worked flawlessly with me.com and on iOS4 but so far, it just doesn't seem to be consistent.

Oct 18, 2011 1:16 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby Morgan75,Same problem. In the first days when there's a problem with osx mail they work. Now mail on osx works and push on ios never works.
I hope is a temporary issue or I want back my mobile me

Oct 18, 2011 2:56 AM in response to a_lexusby Mark Beech,I am also experiencing the same problem with my iPhone and iPad. My wife is also having the same problem. When you go into the mail app they download - just no notifications when they arrive!
I hope that this gets sorted soon.

Oct 18, 2011 7:43 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby maiklohse,Same here, It DID work in the beginning. But now for about 2 days it stopped working. And I also cannot confirm that it DOES work with the mail.app running in the background. Only works for me when I OPEN the mail.app and it checks for mail.

Oct 18, 2011 8:29 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby luanscal,I know this is NOT an aideal solution, but if you force-reset your device (or just turn it off and on again), the mail is pushed again for some time (mine worked for 4 days on the iPhone and 5 on the iPad).

Oct 18, 2011 8:51 AM in response to luanscalby chipfiev,I'm seeing the same behavior, both with Google Sync and iCloud.
One thing I've noticed is that, for me at least, restarting mail isn't enough some of the time...sometimes I have to restart it, kill it and restart it again.
This does seem worse on my iPhone 4 than my iPad...maybe because I use my iPhone quite a bit more during the day so Mail gets stupid faster?
I do hope all of these comments help Apple know there is a real issue here.
