Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!? 😟

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

iphone 4, updated to iOS5, and my MobileMe email has stopped working in push...

It caused to me even some mess with people who supposed me to have already read some urgent emails, and I wasted a lot of time to check all possible settings changed... It reminded me of Microsoft user(un)friendly stuff...

It gets me angry cause it looks like it's not a (forgivable) bug, but a very stupid idea to save battery...

Please Apple, fix it!

Just got off of yet another Chat with Apple Support. The rep I spoke with had me do the following...

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Advanced...turn ALL to FETCH

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data...turn Push OFF.

Reboot Phone...Home/Power button held down at the same time.

Go back into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data...turn Push ON. Leave Advanced set to Fetch.

Sent myself a Test e-mail from my MacBook Pro Mac Mail withOUT Mail open OR running in the background on the iPhone.

The message arrived almost immediately.

This is the first time I've received a 'solution' from ANYONE. I'm really hoping it's not a temporary fix.

The rep's name was Jason and he told me he set up his iPhone the same way. Also told me I could take the credit when posting in the forums to help others but I assured him I wouldn't. :-)

Hope it works for all of us having trouble since moving over from MobileMe to iCloud.

Darn! Sorry to hear that. So far, mine is still working. Just not sure how long it'll last. There are definitely lots of posts about the issue in forums, on Twitter, blogs, etc.

I'm assuming APPLE reads these posts and hopefully the issue is something that is known at 'higher levels'.

Maybe you can contact Support also? The more they hear of it, the better I would think. Unfortunately, there isn't the CHAT option available for iCloud so I went thru MobileMe instead.

That is a roundabout way of just setting your email accounts to fetch rather then push! If you only turn push on but leave each accounts advanced setting as fetch, then mail for those accounts won't be pushed instantly, just fetched as per your interval setting.

Fix, obviously, did nothing for me, as it's not a fix at all sadly. Setting to fetch is not a fix to the issue, just a way to get by till they do fix it.

I found out you don't even have to reset the iPhone to make push work again. Just go to Settings > iCloud and turn Mail off, then on again. Now open the Mail app once and let it check for new mail. After that, any further mails will push.

However, for me this is only a temporary fix - the bug will strike again after a few hours and you'll have to repeat the procedure... Hopefully an update will be out soon.

@cflowers81

That's what I said to him also.

I've got PUSH set to ON and then under ADVANCED all is set to FETCH. For some reason, mail is arriving to my MacBook Pro Mac Mail and my iPhone Mail at the same time now....or within seconds of each other. So it's working somehow. Doesn't make sense to me either but it's not FETCHING at the intervals I have it set to for my POP accounts.

I don't know...
