Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!? 😟

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

Just tried this method and it did sync almost instantly.

Will see how long it lasts, having read many posts it seems it's all those that migrated mobileme accounts.

iCloud seems to work on and off and it does seem seem as if the iPhone mail goes to sleep even when running in the background.

If 5.01 fixes this when is it being released, anyone have an idea.

This is definitely a failure of ios5. The apple servers are indeed pushing data, as our macs/imacs are receiving. Mail in the icloud is worst for reliability it seems. I have noticed my ip4 lose connection to the icloud, via the mail app. Turn mail off in icloud, reboot phone, turn mail on in icloud without even opening mail.......DING!

Then after some time, no connection. Try this with' find my phone' app, ping your phone/ ipad. The ping works but the resultant email confirmation may/ may not push to phone/ ipad.Therfore, the server sees the phone (ping) but cannot push data!

5.0.1 where are you!

🙂

NOPE - None of the "solutions" have worked for me. Of course the ICloud is going to get mail sent myname@me.com. I'm not getting my YAHOO mail pushed to ICloud. I get the mail to my MacBook Pro and my Iphone, but not ICloud and the problem is that at work, Verizon is blocked and so is access to Yahoo mail so I can't get Yahoo Mail at work and since the mail that comes to my IPhone and MacBook Pro doesn't push to ICloud, I can't access it. Not too big a deal, since I don't really have to see my personal email at work. I don't want to change my email address to the "me" address since I have had my yahoo email account for over 10 years and have it connected to many other accounts. I just miss MobileMe for the convenience of being able to make an address book change or calendar change in any of 3 places (Web, MacBook Pro, or IPhone) and all 3 were updated and that doesn't happen anymore either.

This is really the first "hiccup" I have seen with Apple - it's a shame. They were a "10" and now I consider them an "8".

i was having the same problem, no push since migrating from mobileme to icloud. my friend activated ios 5.0.1 beta 2 on my ipone 4 and since have had no issues with push. i can kill the app so its not running in the background and will get email pushed. so i think the issue will be fixed once this update is pushed to the public. for now just hang in there and keep the app running

latest fix from apple chat agent.

delete icloud account completely..all contacts and calendar ...etc. do a hard reset (pwr button and home button till you see the apple logo again.

DO NOT setup up icloud in settings.

go to mail, contacts calendar and set up icloud there.

seems to work..........for now;)

Anyone else noticed another bug where folders you create in iCloud mail using your desktop browser don't get checked on your iOS device via either fetch or push UNLESS you go into each folder separately? For example, within my inbox I create a folder called 'Apple' and set up a rule to put any mail from Apple into the Apple folder. Let's assume I know I have received an email from Apple. Now when I check my mail on the iOS device (viewing all folders) it will not show a 1 next to the Apple folder. When I go into the folder though, it will fetch the mail fom that folder and the mail will appear. What I expect to happen is a 1 still showing on the Mail springboard icon and a 1 appearing next to the Apple folder. Shouldn't have to go into each folder to query the server for mail.

Reporting back steve 3948!

My push email service has improved. I would say, I am getting 70 percent of my emails. Today I probably missed about 5 emails out of 20. So 20 got pushed real time. But 5 had to be pulled. Not sure what that means??

It does feel better. Another thing I noticed is that Facebook push notification is also sporadic.

Issue still exists...but slightly better!

Maybe this is the way it will be from now on, as it's clear it works now and then.

With the paying MobileMe accounts the servers could handle it no problem, but now we have everyone on iCloud perhaps this is as good as it gets.

Having said that emails sent arrive at Pc/Laptop in an instant, it's just OS 5, but is it going to get any better.

Same problem here. Iphone 4s with icloud @me.com account doesn't push unless mail app is running in background. Opened ticket with Apple service since last friday: I'm still waiting for an answer back within the end of week.

Apple support told me the problem is well known and they're trying and fix it.

Some forums report iOS 5.0.1 seems resolving this bug together battery consumption on iOS 5 devices.

I did try all procedures above mentioned and some other attempts found on the net: none is working on my devices (iphone 4s and ipad 1).

If I ever get an answer back from support I will post it immediately.
