iPhone 4s 64gb on Telstra

Half the time when i call someone they cannot hear me, i checked the mute button turning it off and on, no difference, also reset the phone etc.Not sure if carrier or phone fault. Seems to only happen with out going calls, happens to home and mobile phones.

Anyone else have this issue or know about it?

Also when taking a photo with the flash, the picture seems washed out with like a whiteneaa

iPhone 4, iOS 5, 4s

I had the same issue with my new 64 GB iphone 4s (white) and AT&T service.

If I use the headset the phone works fine, but if I use the phone's built in microphone it does not work.
I could hear the other people talking but they could not hear me talking. This happened with both, calls from other cells as well as calls from landlines.

I bought the phone from an AT&T store, and when I tried to exchange the phone, they told me to take the phone to an Apple Store, which I think is ridiculous.  I bougth the phone from AT&T and expect them to exchange it in the store.  I returned the phone back to AT&T (no exchange)  and will wait to see what Apple will do about the issue before I buy another one.

I am having micorophone problems too.   My first apple product is not off to a good start.   Sounds like the fix is a new phone?

I am having the same problem, but it also has affected incoming calls.  The problem is not easily reproducible- I can't tell exactly what conditions cause this bug, but it is making the phone unusable without a headset.

I too have issues with the washes out the pic.  Has anyone found any info regarding this?

OMGeeee!  I have to apologize.  I thought of something after I replied earlier.  I realize my husband (who never ever takes the plastic off any electronics) might have left it on...went to look at my iPhone and sure enough, he left it on therefore causing the flash to reflect back to the lens causing a whitewash look. duh!  Hope your problem is as simple as mine!  Good luck!

Nope, I removed all plastic off the phone.

Heres what I mean with the whitewash I get with flash, took this at the EB games expo.

I have the same issue. I can hear who is calling me but they can't hear me. It happened at least 20-25 times since Friday when I got my phone. I know for sure it is not the reception issue. I have a full bars, and the call going through but person on the other line can't hear me. Will be going to Apple store tonight at 06:30 PM. Will let you guys know what is the verdict.

same here in the uk on o2 white iphone 64 gig when i call someone with phone to ear i cant tell the call is connected unless i take it away from my ear then to carry on the call i have to hit speaker phone on then off to make the call continue either that or all work collegues and friends then im mute calling them

to confirm the microphone is fine speaker and earpiece are fine so seems to be an ios5 bug hence can be fixed and worked around without returning phone here's to a fast ios5.01 update

I am having  similar issue. After upgrade iphone 4 to IOS5 Mic is mute. No one can hear me and I cannot record voice memos anymore.

It works in the speaker mode or use the headset.

About the flash. I have the same issue. The picture is too bright, and it washes the color. I am pretty sure it is due to the camera is too sensitive to the light. I used flash in the dark and the pics are perfect. Just make sure you set your camera to AUTO and sensor will use flash as needed.

    Hope it helps.

I've just purchased the new iPhone 4S 64gb, but have a problem when using the headphones and speaking to someone on the phone.

I have used two different apple headphones, one which came the iPhone 4S and one from my old iPhone 4.

When using the headphones in a call, after 5 mins the line crackles and you cannot hear anything. I have to remove the headphones and use the phone by putting it next to my ear and then it is fine. I have also put the headphones back in to the phone whilst on the call but still experience the same problem.

Me too, same problem, iPhone 4S 16GB.  Mic not working periodically/inconsistently.  This happens when using the phone normally (to ear), while on speakerphone, using the earbuds, and even using bluetooth.  It's definitely an internal problem with the phone.  Spoke to Apple, they arranged an appointment at my local store for Friday, but they may not have any 4S's there.  I may be out of luck on a quick repair.  Stinks.

Anyone notice with this issue, sometimes when you call the person you cannot hear them sometimes?

or sometimes you can only hear your own voice echo
