Outlook Calendar won't sync with iCloud

I added several events to my MS Outlook and after several days, checked the iCloud Calendar and the new events did not show up. Accordingly, my iPhone or iPad calendars did not update either. I believe I have everything set up correctly, and have selected the option to sync with iCloud in iTunes. Am I doing something wrong? Shouldn't iCloud automatically sync with Outlook?

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I'm not sure this works for Mac Users. I have jst spent days trying to get Outlook to sync to iCloud with no success. The problem is that I can't get iCloud Calendars to appear in Outlook. So I have for the time being reverted to iCal for appointments - even there to sync with iCloud you need to use the iCloud Calendars - not the "On my Mac' ones.

I think I found a solution. I've found that you can essentially "accept" calendar entries and get them saved on your icloud, which will push them on your Outlook calendar as well via Google Calendar. If you don't have a gmail account, it's worth getting one to solve this issue. Set up your gmail so that it receives mail from your Outlook mail client. Then make sure your apple device, iphone or ipad, has gmail as an email account, and that in settings both the Mail and Calendar options are set to "On".

From then on if you get a meeting request it will automatically go to your device as an email with an .ics attachment. Click on the attachment and it will give you an option to "add to calendar". It will then be on your device, your icloud and your Outlook Calendar (assuming you've previously downloaded the icloud Control Panel and set it up properly). The only caveat is that to avoid multiple entries you will have to remember to only accept meetings in this way.

After spending several months trying to get iCloud, Gmail and Outlook to work together (and losing valuable data in the process), I've given up and deleted Outlook from my computer. I don't use an exchange server, so it wasn't that important for me. I now bring up Gmail, Toodledo and my iCloud calendar in separate windows in Google Chrome (would work with any other browser as well), and I've got the same functionality as Outlook, but the knowledge that everything's going to sync properly and I don't need to do it manually. I also use Evernote to keep track of notes. I was initially worried about finding e-mails in the Gmail inbox (I had them all nicely filed in Outlook), but it's actually very easy - just search on a name or topic and they're up in seconds. Everything is available and up to date on my two computers, iPad and iPhone.

So unless things change, and Outlook and Cloud applications decide to play nicely with each other, I won't be back to Outlook.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this information. I to had given up hope to sinc Outlook and Icloud together. But after reading your post I can now say I am a very happy person! Like Magic it happened and there it was both showing up blended together on one screen in Outlook7.

Thank you again for taking your time and showing us the way!!!!

great info.

i use outlook 2007, as it is great for allowing me to view my 5 calendars. i won't bore you with details, but i need 5.

so i thought icloud what a great idea, i installed the software, and without warning it moved my 5 calendars to the 'cloud'. and gave me a 6th one.

so now here i am, with 6 calendars, the old 5 work perfectly with icloud, but all my appointments still go into the 6th (newest) one.

so when i copy them over, from new 6th, to old main calendar, i get the "oh it won't sync if you do this, as your not the meeting organiser" error.

solution, live with it. until i get rid of outlook! which really won't be very long at this rate...

any better solutions will be appreciated!!!

Hi, I have just found a great solution for syncing up Outlook default folders with iCloud folders and thought I wuold share it with you. The Control Panel still needs to be installed but the new iCloud folders can be synced with default calendars in real time by means of CodeTwo Sync for iCloud. Seems to be working great so far:

Works with calendars, tasks and contacts.

Thanks TeddyDo...this works for us to. We (my wife and I) each have an iPhone 4S that we sync with our outllook 2010 on our home PC. after a little bit of reconciliation they all sync real-time! OUTSTANDING

worth adding a couple of additional bits of info.

  1. check out the CodeTwo website videos as they are really easy to follow (2 minutes) and the software does it all for you, barring a little bit on the intial configuration, which is why I thought I would type up what to look out for.
  2. only works (supported) if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7
  3. assuming you already have outlook installed, first install install iCloud
  4. go to www.apple.com/icloud and set up the syncs (what you want to sync)
  5. iCloud will have set up a iCloud Calendar in Outlook and you will see that it has probably moved all the data out of the default folder onto the iCloud folder so they are out of sync
  6. install CodeTwo sync for iCloud http://www.codetwo.com/sync-for-icloud/ it cost $10, if you live in the EU it will stupidly ask you for your VAT number, if like me this is for personal use rather than a company it is a pain, but if you put your country as say USA and pay by paypal it works
  7. if you have Norton 360 you will need to go to 'manage the firewall' and 'allow' CodeTwo (which is C2...) otherwise Norton wont allow it to sync.
  8. configure CodeTwo by going to the settings button on the Outlook top bar/ribbon and select which folders you wish to sync and you probably want to go for two-way.
  9. if you are viewing both the iCloud and default calendars you will see that they should start to sync, this may intially take 10 minutes or so as it is making sure they are identical - there is a manage conflicts calendar that is worth flicking through in case there is anything there.
  10. you need to go throught the same process for the contacts (i have 1500 of them so it took10 mins) and then tasks, reminders, etc
  11. they should all (PC, iCloud and iPhones)be synced, but your iPhone calendar will seem as if it has duplicated the lot...it hasn't it is just that it is displaying both the PC calendar and iCloud calendar and they are now identical. go to the iPhone Calendar and tick only the iCloud calendar and your duplicates disappear. contacts etc shouldnt need that attention as it doesnt show duplicates, although if like me you may have some old unreconciled conflicts (historically using iTunes to sync PC and iCloud - not CodeTwo's fault) to deal with, but I should have dealt with that before.
  12. we have multiple PC/laptops at home and given this success we have been thinking about syncing a couple of PCs so we can both be clearing down our outlook emails and all our emails sync. CodeTwo do a couple of similar syncing packages to do that...one for simply two PCs and one for multiple PCs across a home network, giving you most of the functionality of MS Exchange at home...will post something if we go for it, but confident it will probably work.

Just implemented the Code Two solution and now I am getting two invitations sent out for each meeting - one from my@domain.com address and the other from my Icloud address. Code Two says it's an Icloud problem. Are others able to sucessfully synd outlook calendars with Code Two to iCloud without generating invitatinos from the icloud account? maybe just a setting i have incorrectly?

First, it is absolutely INSANE that two software giants like Microsoft and Apple with all of their financial and intellectual resources couldn't solve this problem. It took a third party software company to recognize the need and provide a solution - thank GOD for the entrepreneurial spirit.

TeddyDo - your recommendation of using Code Two:

Absolutely solved my problem with accepting calendar events in outlook and forcing them to show up in iCloud.

Thank you very much!

The two tips that helped me in this thread are:

1) Make sure your iCloud Calendar is 'on top' so all default appointments you setup on your PC will be created in iCloud (and show up on your iPhone) automatically

User uploaded file

2) Even if you forget to put iCloud calendars on top at the time you created a meeting there's an option in the iCloud 3.1 control panel add-in for Outlook 2013 to convert a meeting created in another calendar to iCloud

User uploaded file

This should solve the problem of creating new meetings to default to iCloud on all your iDevices automatically and gives you an option to convert existing meetings.

You're welcome 🙂
