IOS5 sms alert/ tone issue

Hi

I also have exactly same issue. I tried everything including restoring. Restarting temporarily fixes it but tend to come back a couple of hours after. Anyone have a permanent fix for this? Is this issue there for only iPhone 4 users?

I am too having this issue. This happened only after when I upgraded my phone to iOS5....Don't know what these people are doing. Also now I am unable to download/upgrade to iOS 5.0.1, getting error. Don't know what to do...

There is a temp fix to the solution that I have tried on my 4S:

Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings

This fixes the issue but in doing so loses all the saved wifi networks (extremely annoying!)

However, since getting my phone on the 14th Oct, I have had this issue crop us 3 times and the fix clears up for a couple of weeks.

Needless to say it is extremely annoying. Wonder if Apple are working on a perm solution.

update 5.0.1 and thre is no fix for this problem actually before fixing battery issue apple should fix this issue iam very very disappointed from apple and ios 5 its better to go for some anroid phone using a phone with such a problem apple do something

Same here dude I also feel shame on my self when ever I see my friends galaxy s2 I had an option of buying that but I paid my money in buying such a phone which has a bug in receiving Message apple do something show us a way of downgrading the Os version

See friends. Hardly matters to apple. We are just wasting time out here. if this had become a news in the media, apple will present a solution for it in a week. But we are just too stupid sitting and posting such a non sense issue to apple again and again for last 2 months. Apple is Sick after Steve is gone

U r right dude they don't care actually but I don't understand we are the only people getting this problem or all The users of I phone are dealing with it if yes then why they Are quiet and if no then we are all gone friends we will get no solution I feel like throwing my phone

See the issue never comes up in all the handsets. Never did this battery drain issue was encountered by me or my friends which apple claim they fixed in IOS 5.01. Only thing being that became a news in media and these bloddy apple people tried finding an instant solution. I am only upset since I wroter to apple and shared the feedback on this notification sound issue, but no one bothers to reply back, since we are just another poor common man for them..

So buddy should I go to apple care so that they will replace my phone. What do u say about it because I don't known which country r u. From but here in India it costs bloody 34k and it's our harden money boss so. What do u say going to care is good Aur should I wait for next fix 5.0.2 and thanks for replying

Has anybody tried to write the complaint to the Apple customer care? If yes, then have they responded? I think they wouldn't. I am also getting fed up of such nonsense. Since, i've bought my phone, it has encountered several issues. I am pleased that we have this platform where we can share our troubles and many a times get a proper solution too. But this time, it seems, we are doomed. Apple is getting hopeless day by day!!

I have this issue too!

I had it one the first betas of the iOS 5 in my iPhone 4. And now I have with iOS 5.0.1 in my iPhone 4S.

It's a shame that no one is taking care of this.

I'm having the same annoying issue. It started normal then somehow went to two "dings" like I was getting two messages back to back but it's just one SMS. The two "dings" have now become 4-5 "dings". This was not an issue until my upgrade to iOS 5. (5.0.1 also did not address this issue). I hope Apple knows about this and fixes it soon. I see this message board has "answered" on it so not sure what the answer is aside form it's annoying and I hope Apple gets us a quick fix!

P.S. I can turn the phone off and on and it goes away for a LITTLE while.....but it eventually returns.

my iphone 4 has been doing this since i upgraded to ios5. in addition, it is also doing something else: when i receive a text message while i am on the main messages pages (where all messages from everyone are listed and NOT inside a specific message conversation) and i receive a message, it sounds like it has an echo, or as if it is played by 2 devices at the same time. if i exit the messages page and i am on the home screen or the phone is asleep, the echo disappears and i am only left with the broken record problem! has anyone else experienced this? or can anyone try it?

by the way, my phone is not jail broken!

Same here mate.. I cant see apple fixing this problem soon. All they are concentrating on is to improve battery life.. But I want this issue to be addressed first. iOS5.0.2 might not fix it as well.. But lets hope for the best..

same here..issue remain even after iOS 5.0.1. Suprised at how Apple could mess up such a basic function with an upgrade. Was more happy with my old BlackBerry - they never ever missed up the basic functionality with new upgrades!!

Folks at Apple - if you really care about the "i" in your "iPhone", fix it soon.
