My sms alert tone (IOS 5) seems to hae an issue. The tone repeat itself (as if like a broken record or stammering) multiple times when i receive any sms. Whenver i restart my phone it does sound normal for some smses, but then again it starts stammering.
I found on other forums that other users are also facing similar issue.
Any solution yet?

This solution works but this is a temp fix.
I hope apple will solve it on priority.
Well it worked for one complete day but then the annoying tone is back!
This is killing me!!!pls fix this Apple!!! This is no small bug that it has not been fixed yet.
Simple solution....
go to 'Notifications'
Switch off ' View in Lock Screen'
probelm solved...it is working for me 🙂
Thanks for the temp solution.. Though you can't see the message on the lock screen, this is better than the irritating continous SMS alert tone..
Going to visit Apple showroom, and returning the phone for repair, as its under warranty yet.
This is ridiculous and annoying.

and I still want to be able to view the message on the lock screen! - that's not a solution to the problem!
I think its better to raise this issue to media..for India NDTV Gadget Guru, who often grabs attention of viewers by hifi gadgets..let him discuss about the problem ! If apple is good in customer service, they should send message to all iphone owners that 'this problem will be solved before so and so date' Apple's phone is costly and atlast it is loosing market for a cheaper issue !
I have the same issue....
The issue gets solved if u update to iOS 5.0.1 but after a while, the same issue comes up.
after many long phone calls to apple, this solution was given to me and so far it works, now the question is why does it happen ??
This issue can be resolved by holding the sleep/wake button and home button until the iPhone reboots itself to the Apple logo
