With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libxml2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
3. Now paste it in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
4. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
Good Luck

Thanks Allan. Did as you said. Works well.
You're welcome - glad it went okay 🙂
Hi Allan. I've tried your suggestion against a problem where I get the "procedure entry point xmlTextReaderName could not be located in the dynamic library libxml2.dll when starting the IPhone Configuration Utility but unfortunately it doesn't seem to fix the problem. I've also uninstalled ITunes, and the IPCU and reinstalled - no luck their either. Have any other suggestions?
Hi CK, I'll do my best 🙂
First off, when uninstalling iTunes it's important that other steps are taken as well to remove the previous references that will otherwise remain in your computer. I refer you to this Apple Support webpage that will tell you how to do it properly and then reinstall.
Try that first, then see if that sorts it. Please let me know how you get on.
Good Luck 🙂
Hey Allan,
So I've tried removing and reinstalling according to the support doc you provided in both Win7 and XP. Sadly both resulted in the same behavior. I continue to get "procedure entry point xmlTextReaderName could not be located in the dynamic library libxml2.dll" when starting the IPhone Configuration Utility in either OS. So I continued on and copied this file from the application support director and into the mobile device support directory and again the same error for both. Appreciate any other suggestions you may have.
tried Allan123 suggestion and it now works perfectly! Thanx.
Great 🙂 You're welcome
Sorry to hear you're still having a hard time of it CK. One possible difference between your installation and those of others for which the fix worked is that you also have the iPhone Configuration Utility installed. I'm wondering if that is not 'getting in the way'. What I would then suggest is completely uninstalling the IPCU, and then restart iTunes. If you still get the same error message, close iTunes, make sure the libxml2.dll file is in your Mobile Support Folder, otherwise copy and paste it in there from your Application Support Folder, and restart it again.
Another alternative is to do a System Restore to an time before the problem started. At least this will enable you to sync your phone again with whatever programmes you were running at the time. Do you have MobileMe as well?
Good luck mate and let me know how you get on.
I had this same problem. I tried your fix, and all is well. Thanks!
Glad to hear it helped - you're welcome 🙂
Under windows 7 64 bit
1. Go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
3. paste it in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\iPhone Configuration Utility
4. Restart the programme,
Thanks didomoh, you're fix worked for me (on Windows Y 64 bit) 🙂
If it still complaining after trying Allan123 and didomoh suggestion above.
Then try the following
Loacte the libxml2.dll from the one of the following locations
----------- OR -------------
Copy the libxml2.dll to the following folder and restart the program
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
You don't need to restart your PC.
