Since upgrading to iOS5 the calendar in my iPad starts off in a black state on many occasions. Changing month fixes the problem.
Anybody else having the same issue?

unsync with wifi
unsync w calendar to remove from your phone
sync w cal to reinstall

I tried doing this, but it didn't work. The calendar still opens up blank. First I turned off wifi, then I turned off iCloud calendar sync. Then turned them on again, but it still opened up blank. Did I not do it right? BTW, I'm doing this on an iPad, not iPhone.
Same here. Opening calendar always ends up showing a blank page. The dates only appear after changing month or view. Very annoying!
Has there been any resolution to this? I thought upgrading from my iPad 1 to the new Retina iPad might resolve the matter but alas it does not. This is most certainly an iOS bug and it's very very irritating.
Had this since updating to iOS 5 as well.
Finally did solve it with the unsynching-deleting on iPad-resynching procedure mentioned above. On fresh startup it still might take a few seconds to show the entries, but at least they show up.
This stayes stable for a couple of days now. Keep my fingers crossed....
Still happening on iOS 5.1.1. Extremly annoying. How can Apple ignore bugs like this? I honestly don't get it. Reproducible for me. Blank page stays until view or month is changed.
It's fixed in iOS 6. But the bad news is everything else is broken ;)
Pagemakers 2 could you be a little more precise about what's broken for you on iOS 6?
App Store is rubbish.
Passbook is not so great.
Photo share is limited.
Wifi sync is broken.
Podcasts app is terrible.
Turn by turn does not agree with maps.
More glitches than ever.
Oh... And I'm an Apple fan!!!
