iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing. Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue? I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

I'm baffled this has not hit the media yet. They're too busy posting cute Siri articles. People are paying top dollar for this phone, Apple is treating us like children, the iPhone doesn't deserve to be called a business phone more than Blackberry (even after the epic fail a few weeks ago.) The media should wake up from their Steve Jobs mourning period and put the pressure on Apple.

NOT your carrier!!! From what I have seen it is common to all carriers. I am with AT & T. Apple already directed me there, that was before I saw on these comments that other carrier customers had the same issue!! I just left a suggestion for our local news to cover this problem. It is outrageous they are taking responsibility. It they would just say "we have a problem and are working on it" I would feel allot better.......

This is typical Apple behavior. They will not acknowledge the problem for as long as they can. Until mainstream media picks up the problem and starts covering it non-stop, Apple won't even publicly acknowledge that it exists. They do this in the hopes that 1) it might just go away on its own and 2) they can hopefully have a solution figured out by the time they are forced to acknowledge it.

Of course, it upsets their customer base but at this point in time I'm sure they have weighed the number of future customers they might lose if they publicly announce there's a problem with their new flagship phone. They'd rather have some percent of their early-adopters be ****** off than to announce to the world that their new phone doesn't really work too well as a...phone.

Please contact your local news channel. This is real BS that we are being dismissed. Just admit the problem, please!!!!!!!!!! I come from a blackberry, a month ago. Love the iphone n everything works great except using it as a PHONE!!!! I just want Apple to say "we have a problem and we are working on it" this is disrespectful to their customers, to say the least.........

Guys and gals, I just posted this to Mashable under the following article http://mashable.com/2011/10/30/who-are-you-siri/

Hey retards from Mashable, let me give you a scoop, the iPhone 4S doesn’t work so well… as a phone, it’s all over the Apple Support forum since day 1https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404857 so you can stop covering all those cute things that Siri can say and get to work. People who bought the iPhone 4S are having huge issues with the microphone, ppl on the other side of the call can’t hear you. How’s that for a scoop? It’s been dangling before your eyes for the past 2-3 weeks and you’ve just let it hang there. The mourning period for Steve Jobs is over, start giving Apple the same flack you gave Blackberry a couple weeks ago.

It might help if we get more people writing there.

I purchased my first ever iPhone on October 14 and immediately started having the same problem as everyone else here. I received my replacement iPhone yesterday in a white sealed box with a paper telling how to set it up. I'm not sure if it is refurbished or not. I received it after calling Apple Care last Thursday. I have not had any problems yet with my replacement, fingers crossed. I wish I never gave up on my Droid but that's water under the bridge. As I remember though I did have to get my Droid replaced 3 times before I got one that worked properly.

When I talked with Apple Care they said they knew nothing about this problem. At first it angered me that they would "pretend to be in the dark" about such a widespread problem. I then decided to count how many people had posted on this discussion. I did a quick count and came up with only 93 people posting. If I triple that number to account for other discussions here I would only account for 300 people posting a problem. If I assume that only 1 in 100 people post a problem then we are talking about only 30,000 bad phones. Now that may seem like a lot but when Apple is selling them at a rate of a million a day, it is just a drop in the bucket. I hope Apple will find a solution to our problem soon but if we have to get them replaced time and again they will eventually get the message. All I'm trying to say here is give the Apple Care technician a break and work with them to solve your problem.

I'm writing from Singapore and I too experience the call problem here. I was told to get a replacement/refurbish for the issue but I rejected as I wanted a NEW phone instead of a replacement/refurbish. I paid for a phone which is less than 1 week old and all i get back in return is a second class phone? Come on, where is the logic?

I've had this problem since I've had my iphone on launch day. Me & my girlfriend both bought 2 64GB iphone 4s on AT&T. Hers does not have this problem. I want to return it but the closest Apple Store is 400 miles away. I can send in my phone for repair but I would be without a phone for 2-4 days which I can't do because I need for phone for work. They will send me a phone for first but only if I let them put a $850 hold on my funds. Which I could do but don't really want to. I'll probably end up doing the advance replacement next week but I was hoping a site like Cnet or Engadget would cover the problem and say Apple was working on a fix that would arrive in the next software update. If that is the case I would hold on to my phone & wait for the update. Sad to say I've gotten use to when I make calls pressing the speaker button till I hear the phone ring then switch to the earpiece.
