iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing. Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue? I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

I got my iPhone 4s 32gb at the start of dec 2011 from 02 (uk service provider) . Calling people was silent (no audio) but counter running, I finally took my phone to apple and they replaced it. Still issues!!! Took it back again (3rd phone) and yes....still doing it.

Apple where not really wanting to replace it 2nd time (and I was not bothered as I think it's a software issue) but after doing a full restore and me leaving the shop it happened again on my first call!!!

I also have my phone (while using headphones) goes automatically to loud speaker and I can hear the person I call but they can't hear me...brilliant phone!!!

Please fix it as this is affecting my business. My customers are getting sick of me giving them silent phone calls!

I just called my carrier, and they said they have never heard of the issue...

On other hand...

In the last 2 days, it has been a lot better! like yesterday i must have done around 20 cals and this happened twice, and today i don't recall it happening once at all.

Also, i'm startimg to think this is an unfortunate mix of issues. I noticed the call when this happen, are calls that have low quality. Most times after pressing the loudspeaker button twice, the calling signal is too low or distorted, and i end up making the call again anyway...

I'm thinking also, the sim card i have is a very old normal cut sim card that might need to be replaced. Tomorrow i might go to my carrier'store and have a new micro sim.

Anyway and nontheless, can anyone confirm if i install 5.1 b3 can i go back to 5.0.1 and how?

Okay, so I just received the box form Apple in which I'll be sending in my phone. I'll let you know what happens.

It means I'll go without for a week, but it's worth it, in my opinion. I think it's a hardware issue, and I'm not risking it.

For people taking notes, my phone was manufactured in China (factory C3) in week 47 (November 2011).

Here is the link to check out your manufacturing information if you need it.

Yes dude u can install 5.1b3 and can go back to 5.0.1. I've already done it and yes I can assure you that the OCNA issue is fixed in 5.1b3 and running smooth on my 4S 32gb White. I've been using it for several weeks now. Those who can exchange their phone then good for them but those who cant....then this is the way to solve the issue. To update just read my post in page 143 and if you want to go back to 5.0.1 you can just download the 5.0.1 firmware from http://osxdaily.com/2010/10/25/download-iphone-firmware-ipsw/ (direct from apple). Currently, I dunno what is happening to multiupload...because the 5.1b3 in my post earlier is hosted by multiupload.

Have installed ios5.1 b3 since 4weeks now, haven't got any issue of ocna.what i still DO have is the 3G internet connection is failing after some amount of time, allthough i keep mobile data constantly on and having the maximum of connection with provider.the 3G symbol at that time just stays away and so no 3G internet connection any longer.after rebooting the phone, the 3G internet connection is immediately back.shouldn't be the right way of working with thouhg?are there others of you who have the same plast let me know and of someone tell me what i can do to solve.swap phone it wait until official 5.1 release?

Hello Alina, I'm in exactly the same situation and there are actually two things, that you can do(I'll try to reply in Russian for your convenience):

Not exactly. The European warranty valid in all European countries. The warranty from the USA - in the USA.
