iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing. Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue? I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Had the same problem, with also glitches in incomming calls. Resetting and restoring software with IOS 5.1 didn't help. Also installing my iPhone 4 as a "new" phone didn't help. Looks like a hardware-problem.

Within 15 minute's I was able to open my iPhone, place the suggested piece of card-board, and put the back-cover in place. It worked, no more sound problems with out- and incomming calls!

Same problem of sorts here:

iPhone 4s 32Gb

Carrier: Rogers

Location: Canada, British Columbia

Outgoing calls will more times than not, have no audio.

No other applications seem to have any audio issues, only the Phone App.

Sometimes speakerphone will work, sometimes it will not.

I have to try making my call 3 to 5 times before I can get audio, and in that time I have annoyed the person at the other end.

I was hoping that 5.01 and 5.1 update would solve this issue but it has not.

Apple and Rogers deny there are any audio problems with the 4s, and require me send my phone to apple since the nearest Apple Store service is over 1000km away from my home, which will take 2-4 weeks for a replacement, requiring me to purchase another phone in the meantime.

I really feel bad about this issue, and hurt by Apple's response to me, and am beginning to question my loyalty

to Apple.

On my 3rd iPhone 4s 32gb (white).

Just got off the phone with Verizon Technical Support, and they are aware that there are problems concerning audio in receiving and sending of calls.

They said Apple has not however admitted there is a problem, and also has not returned calls from Verizon Support.

Apple in my eyes is sliding fast, and I tell you I am not of one of these easy to forget Apple Fanboys, if they don't do something fast I will do whatever I can to get rid of this iPhone and never even consider getting a new one.

Now I alone wouldn't even put a dent in their pockets, but what I hope is legions like me would do the same.

Pleasde FIX my DA_N phone once and for all!!!!!!

Gregg, I am on my 4th iPhone, yes Apple does know and acknowledges there is a problem! They said it was a bad batch of circuit boards. This is what is causing the issue. I talked to Apple directly and they were very nice and apolegitic and since it is under warranty, you can either take it to an apple store and swap it out or send it in to get fixed. Hope this helps!!

try toggle speakerphone. It may work. I had same issue and that was the work around.

also, if you happen to connect to a headphone or to the car audio ports, then if you make a call, you will have the same problem. you have to hit the speaker phone and turn off speaker phone, you will get the audio. Sound slike the software/hardware or combination bug, it thinks you have either headphones ON or a blue tooth even when it is not and thus no volume through the phone audio output.
