I have the same problem. I bought a Logitech headphone/mic from Amazon after asking help at Logitech if it could be used with Dragon Dictate and he assured me that it could. Unfortunately, he was wrong, the app can not see the microphone, even though my iMac works with it just fine. I guess I need to chat w/ someone who has had success w/ unsupported USB microphones. Nuance's list is very much out of date, and those that are being sold (by nuance) start at ca. $!50.) I will post this question on the support page. I looked at responses to kirbrys, but you are the single responder. Thanks

It kind of bothers me that Nuance hasn't provided adequate support to both of you. It's a pricy piece of software, so you should be getting basic support on your very basic question.

I can only talk about the compatabiity with MBP '09 and iMac '09. I haven't tried the Logitech microphone, but there is a cheaper option. But the Apple Earphones with remote and mic can be purchased for around $15 or so, and the sensitivity easily allows dictation. They're earbud-style, so don't look for comfort.

In case this is at all helpful, this is from my post at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3715657

A rep I spoke with at Nuance, assured me that this is the case and applies to booting into Windows on a Mac to use Dragon Naturally. I asked about sound card quality and was told that, since microphones connect via USB on Intel Macs, there are no issues with sound card quality and/or compatibility issues. This is because USB microphones bypass the sound card, entirely. If a USB microphone is Intel Mac compatible, Dragon Dictate and Dragon Naturally will work just fine.

Gotta say thank you — again. Sorry the posts were spread out over more than one location. I'll check and see if Third Party Software is considered a "peripheral", maybe that would have been a better single thread choice?

Definitely news we can use and the reference link is appreciated.

OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech. My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years. You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done. A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it. No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media. Fixed income. So we do with what we can as long as we can. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the "reason" we need. I really mean it when I say that we are beyond appreciative that users take the time to share info and patiently educate those of us who fall into the "slow tech" category. 😍
