it is in the accessibilities portion
settings> general> LED Flash for alerts
@ least in the 4s idk about 4
I had trouble finding it on the 4S, as well. It's actually in Settings / General / Accessibility / LED Flash for Alerts.
I had the opposite problem...wanted to turn it ON. The flash on the back of the phone is activated while it's ringing. So far, that's all I can see that it does. I was hoping for something similar to the BlackBerry, where it would alert me for missed calls, texts, etc. If it's limited to only flashing during incoming calls, I may just turn it off. My phone's usually face-up and I wouldn't even see it anyway.
Thanks guys, Spot On!
you might find this helpful, I have the iphone 5s and this gives instructions on how to turn on/off the flash alert: http://www.solveyourtech.com/turn-flash-notification-iphone-5/
thank you the flash was getting really annoying
That happened to me too, what you've got to do is go into settings, general, accessibility scroll down and you will see a section called hearing, then press turn off flash
You would go to settings>general>accessibility> scroll down to LED flash for notifications>off
