iCloud crash in system preferences

After I update from 10.7.1 to 10.7.2 on a Mac Pro I have the problem that when I select icloud in system preferences the system crasht. I can only stop system preferences bij menu " force stop"

Add iCloud account in mail, agenda, contacts is also not possible. System preferences hangs and is only forced to stop.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I have found a workaround. Select System Preferences in the Finder (it's in Applications), select File » Get Info (Command-I), and tick the 'Open in 32-bit mode' checkbox.

The iCloud pane is still somewhat slow, and it still uses 100% of my CPU when ticking a checkbox, but only for 10-20 seconds. It doesn't go up to ~390% CPU (all cores) and max out my RAM (by using 6+ GB) like it used to in 64-bit mode. Hope this helps.

I think it's ridiculous that all of these work arounds which include things like, reverting to an earlier copy of the OS, de-installing/reinstalling mobile me account, writing scropts, etc. are "solutions". Here's a suggestion -iCloud should work. There should not be -dozens- of support threads all populated by people posting that they have the same problem with the only answers being other users sometimes technical work-arounds. Where is Apple support on this? (oh.. and just to add on.. icloud doesn't work on my Mac either. Same problem. Open system preferences... it hangs... crashes. Never opens.)

ok, problem solved (by itself...).

2 days ago i've decided to start using icloud's services despite the pref pane's problem. once operation was completed, i started system preferences>mail, contacts & calendars to activate and configure the mail address; at the end of this procedure, like magic... the icloud's pref pane began to work properly! Now everything's ok... 😮 😕

Doing nothing seems to work. Even though the System Preferences appear to not be working in the force quit app, they are.

I started reading the posts and opened Activity Monitor just to see what was happening. Maybe because I have an older imac (mid 2006) it takes longer to sync the icloud. By the Time I had read through all the posts Sys Pref was working again.

I tried signing out of icloud so it would delete its copy of my data and resigning in to make a fresh copy incase some data was bad and effecting it. But on starting the process again of opening icloud in Sys Pref it once again showed not working. So I left it for 5 min and yes it connected .

Conclusion, the older machines need more time for syncing up iCloud.

Same problem.

Lion and Mountain Lion are THE MOST buggy systems I've ever encountered, even worse than I remember Windows around 2000 (back when I had a PC). I'm with the other guy here who mentioned OSX is becoming Windows!!!

I've been working for TWO WEEKS to update my system from SL to ML, and because ML is bug ridden to downgrade to Lion, which is also really bad. I've read countless threads like this to find work arounds to the countless bugs. All include efforts to reinstall, trash preferences, and have to redo what I already did a million times, it's so frustrating.

I think we all knew this was going to happen when Jobs departed. I've mosted all my rabid mac friends are starting to say the same thing; we hate mac now. That's a big change in my attitude in only 1 year. Sigh.

Also their help desk is helpless.

Fixed for me....

after getting a new computer, i used time machine to restore my most recent backup. (from yosemite 10.10.2)

clicked iCloud in system prefs and i just hang. everything else about the restore seemed to work great.

i read on another forum... (http://gotoanswer.stanford.edu/?q=could+not+load+iCloud+preference+pane+and+coul d+not+load+internet+accounts+preference+…) that i had to do with a permissions error, in my case the "address book" folder in library was set to read only. so i removed the folder (to the desktop) rebooted, and problem solved. i could click pref panes iCloud and it was no longer stuck.

if other people are having the problem, it may be a permissions error in some other folder.
