Loud iPhone Speakers after Using Siri

Hi, everyone.

I'm trying to determine if Siri is the problem or if I have a faulty iPhone 4S. I know about restoring and making appointments at the Apple Store, etc. I will do that after I run some more tests. I'm just curious if anyone is running into the following symptoms.

(1) Are your speakers at max volume after using Siri? To create the scenario, turn your ringer volume down to the first 3-4 blocks, so it's quiet. Sleep the screen. Wake up the screen by activating Siri and ask a question. Press the Home key to leave Siri. Now, sleep the screen, wake it up, and slide to unlock. Do you notice your volume is extremely loud while waking it and sliding to unlock? The volume will return to your setting after a few seconds or a couple sleep/wake presses.

(2) After using Siri at random times, do you notice that Siri doesn't pick up your voice when you're talking to the phone when it's about 3 inches from your face? This is also the same distance that worked before the mic stopped picking up your voice. If so, try talking to Siri by putting your mouth directly up to the mic. Is that the only way you get her to pick up your voice during this scenario? That's how it's been for me when trying to use Siri.

Thanks for your time.

(1) happens to me just as you described it. Seems to happen everytime I use Siri from the lock screen and sometimes even when using Siri with iPhone unlocked.

It's actually quite frustrating because it tends to this after using speaker phone too. My volume is multitude times louder. It doesn't go away on it's own either. The *ONLY* way I can resolve the issue is to open the Music app and adjust the volume slider. The moment I touch it, everything returns to normal.

This happens every. Single. Time. I use Siri, or use speaker phone during a phone call. No number of clean, full-factory, not from back up restores I do, it simply doesn't fix the issue.

All we can do is hope it gets addressed soon, unfortunately. =/

So I'm not sure what's causing the problem, if it's Siri or some issue with the ringer vs the volume. But the reason for it is because you left your volume up, and every sound after using Siri goes by that level. But even if it's a medium level it still seems twice that. But I don't think it's anything to be too worried about, like go to the Apple store or anything, because I think it's happening to everyone. And if you do I think they'll just tell you the same thing I'm going to tell you; that it's just a software bug, and to wait for the next update. This is happening to be also (if you haven't figured that out already), and I'm not too concerned about it, I'll just wait until the next iOS update.

the workaround is to play and pause some music. it will set the volume to the volume in settings.

siri sets the speaker volume to MAX when activated. There is a RUMOR that it will eventually go back to normal but i've never seen it happen. every time i use siri i have to use the workaround to reset the volume.

steps:

  1. double-click home
  2. swipe left to right.
  3. double-tap the 'play' icon (to quickly play then pause).

works 100% of the time.
