iPhone 4s doesn't charge to 100%

I charge my new iPhone 4s over night through the wall charger. It only hits 92%, and won't charge fully. Anyone else having this issue?

iPhone 4, iOS 5

There is an easier solution to fully charge the battery

At night -or when you do not need it- plug in your iPhone to the charger , then switch it off

pulling the red tab on the screen

and let it charge

The battery will go to 100% and it will last longer

BTW I found my battery is lasting much longer and does not drain as fast as it was doing before

since I turned off the Time Zone feature - Setting Time Zone function in Locations (under system services).

Well last night I left wifi on overnight but I have iCloud backup off and this morning when I took it off the charger it read 94%. So it's not the iCloud backup per se but some issue with wifi itself or some other process that takes place only when wifi is on. Since I also see a significant battery drain during the day when wifi is on, for now I will leave it off most of the time unless I specifically want to update or download something. Again for me this less than 100% issue has only occurred when wifi was on.

A fix for me was suggested by Hdcrazy on another thread and it seem to have worked,

-Turn of all cloud setting and choose to keep the data on the phone when promted

-Go to the home menu and do a hard reboot

-Then let your phone drain to 0.

It may of course have been a coincidence but the night after doing this I obtained my first full charge and haven't failed to get one since!

Battery life still ***** though! I used 51% with 2.5 hours of usage with 3.25 hours standby the other day!

I mentioned this in another thread, but I really think most of us are seeing a bug in the "show battery percentage" (maybe just me) But please try this after you do a charge overnight and have the 96% etc... I think when the phone reaches 100% but the battery % starts its click down, the phone is still charged fully (at least in my case) just the wrong %

Just shut off the phone "slide to power off" then turn it back on and bingo says 100%.

If this works it's just a bug with the "show battery percentage"

And if this is the case why didn't Apple chime in on this?

so i tried all the things listed in this post and nothing so then i call apple since i have apple care+ and at the very end of the phone call they ask for my credit card # so they can put a $650 hold on my account until they receive the defective product. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? you sent me a product that isnt up to par and now you want to hold $650 until you get it back...every other phone i have had if there was any issue they would send me the replacement next day free of charge with a return shipping label. regardless if they will take the hold off when they get it back i dont have $650 just laying around that i dont need for a couple of days.

Same issues here as everyone. 4s charging overnight, woke up to see only a charge of 97%. Did a powercycle and there was 100%. Strange thing was that within 10 seconds of being on, the phone lost 2% of its power. Besides that, i also posted a topic about the worst standby time ever. My ipad2 with ios 5; no problems there. My 4s atm: 4*****. Discharges 54% in 8 hrs in standby. With only icloud on, but no icloudbackup.

This realy ***. While reading this thread, my phone dropped 7% already...

I charge my phone every night when I go to bed. I often check my phone thru out the night. After a few hours of charging it hits 100%. When I finnaly get up its at 93%. I have no running apps in the background. I have the iPhone4 running ios5. I also experience rapid battery drain when using my device. Lol I just lost 3% writing this post @@

I've got router issues at home that I need to take care of before our phones can use WiFi. So we have had our WiFi turned off ever since we got the phones 2 weeks ago, and yet we always get a 2% drop to 98% immediately after unplugging every morning. I ran into two other friends last night that told me they get the exact same thing --- exactly.

One day is not proof of anything but for me this morning is the first time since I got my 4S that I left wifi on overnight while it was charging and battery was at 100%. I did the 5.0.1 update yesterday. For me it was always related to wifi, wifi on overnight - less than 100 in the morning, wifi off - always 100%. Today I'm quite pleased, we'll see if this holds up.

My new Iphone 4 does the same thing. I charged it 2 nights in a row and it didn't get to 100%. I updated the os5 to os5.1 and it didn't make a difference. The third night it only charged to 91% insted of the 96% the previous 2 nights. I can unplug it in the morning then plug it right back in and it charges the rest of the way. I am mainly concerned the problem will only get worse. I have plenty of charges so plugging it back in in the morning on my way to work isn't a big deal. Just worried it will get worse.

I have had my 4s for about 3 weeks now and having the same issue. I have tried "calibrating it" with no luck. I have found that if I unplug it and plug it back in it will go up to 100%. Another way that has worked for me is shutting off the phone then plugging it back in, it powers on automatically but in the morning my battery is 100%. I have to assume its a bug either in the reporting of the correct battery life or actually charging. I have had plenty of iPods and iPads and never had an issue like this so I have a hard time believing this is not a bug

I finally took my iPhone to the apple store after the recommendation from tech support. at the store they told me it sounded like the firmware was Corrupt. They bAcked up my stuff on iCloud then reinstalled the firmware. I haven't had any problems since. They were great to work with at the store. If I begin to have problems again I'll post again.
