yes this is true . you gotta use some sort of super old password you always use . try with or without capitals. i dont know but it works

That makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

You have to use the password you originally had when you downloaded and installed iTunes for the first time. Even if you have a different password now.

THANK YOU! I almost gave up, but luckily tried my original appstore password, and it worked. Good thing I remembered it...

For me it worked writing the 4 digit code to unlock my iPhone, on the bar that asks for the password. But that unlocking code wasn't from the iPhone I was restoring. Stranger things.

What is strange? It is the passcode that you entered the first time you made an encrypted backup. You entered it twice. Look 5 posts above yours for a sampling of the passcodes that people have used.

So glad i saw this reply, it worked! it was the original password i set up when i originally downloaded itunes...years ago!!
