You can feel annoyed, but.. I am NOT a supporter of UV, but I do care about getting facts right. Ultraviolet *IS* a digital copy. Just not the digital copy you want. I prefer it to all be in iTunes.. Also, I appear to be the only one saying this, but.. Studios may have been taking notice - at least some of them. Several movies coming out in the next few months include both a "digital copy" and an "Ultraviolet Digital Copy". They're giving you both. The upcoming Blu-Ray release of Jaws in September has both a DC & UV. So does Titanic. I know there's more, but these are ones I have on pre-order, so I can speak from them directly. Also, the recently released Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol had both UV and iTunes copy. Some others giving both are American Reunion, Wanderlust, Big Miracle, Too Big to Fail, and more. Don't have time to research the next six months of future releases.

Now back to iTunes.. What I wish they did is give you a 1080p digital copy. What doesn't get talked about much is that the iTunes digital copy is SD.

While I still prefer physical media, if something comes out that is UltraViolet only, I'll buy it in 1080p from the iTunes store, as I don't want UV. I have a UV account, I'm not one of these people who go "NO WAY" and never check it out for themselves. But I don't want a bunch of accounts to view my streaming stuff. Like the new Paramount streaming app for Xbox 360. Don't need ANOTHER one, if I have to do that on a console, I'll run it throug the Vudu app to watch my UV movies. But even still.. Sigh.

I was in Best Buy the other day and saw that too. There are a number of titles coming out with both. Like you I hope that the studios are listening.

I still think we are at the beginings of a format war between Apple and UV. One is streaming rights only and the other is a copy of the actual file. This is the main reason I have not purchased a Apple TV. I saw I preview of that a month ago, also at Best Buy...that is serious 1080p.

Doesn't UV allow downloading and viewing with Flixster? So with UV, you get a DVD/Blueray disc, streaming and a download.

With iTunes, you get streaming and a download.

The downloaded file is not compatible with iTunes. ITunes is the app I prefer to manage all of my media, and I refuse to use any other, if that makes me an Apple juice drinker than so be it. I am not going to use one app for some movies and another for different movies. It would be like needing to own a Beta and a VHS (I am really dating myself here). If UV ever becomes compatible with iTunes then I will use it, but until then, I will not use it.

In the context of an included digital copy with a Blu-Ray you are correct. So far all digital copies included with the disc are SD only.

Both UV and iTunes gives you the ability to download a hard file.

In terms of purchased 1080p, UV does not allow for an HD download. They only allow SD.

iTunes allows 720p and 1080p downloads but they may be viewed only on devices with DRM management between the device and the monitor. In most cases that is an HDMI cable.

You are singing to the choir. DRM only hurts us honest people. Like you, I prefer to keep everything in one place.

I have about 1 gig of movies and TV shows in iTunes. I don't know the total number. Most of them are DVD and Blu-Ray rips of discs that I OWN. The rest are iTunes purchases.

I have 18 UV movies. 2 SD movies from Blu-Ray digital content downloads. 1 free SD movie for signing up with VUDU. 1 purchased HD movie not available in iTunes. And 14 Walmart DVD to HD for $5 each. None of these 14 movies are available on Blu-Ray.

As you can see I prefer to own Blu-Ray and rip it to iTunes. However, I am VERY pleased to have HD copies of movies that are important to me that aren't available in Blu-Ray.

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

DRM stinks but we find ways to deal with it.

I did own Beta, VHS, and Laserdisc all at the same time!

So...instead of all the complaints and yada yada back and forth can someone please just tell me to the point. Is it POSSIBLE or NOT? to transfer ultraviolet to our iTunes libraries?

I am with all the people who like to keep everything in one spot and not have to sign up for a different account for each movie you buy. I will be more specific in my purchases from now on or if Ultraviolet will become compatible with iTunes that will work for me too. Thanks!

Blame DRM.

as long as the blurays have itunes digital copy codes, im all for it.

ill always sell the UV code or trade them for other itunes digital copy codes. i have no use for UV codes 😠

I never thought to try and trade the codes. Interesting concept.

I would imagine the companies would frown on that, since you technically don't have a license to distribute the code. I admit I'm splitting hairs, though.

Great idea about trading codes. I had not thought of that either.

It's ridiculous to think that now I have to manage my media library with two apps versus one. I don't have to do that for any of my other media. Now if I just "accept" it.....now going forward I have to use two libraries. In the digital world that is rdiculous on so many levels.

Why don't we just go back to the that for our music as well?
