Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?

Got Horrible Bosses on Blu-Ray and instead of a digital copy that downloads automatically to iTunes, they have this new "ultraviolet" digital copy that only downloads to some stupid thing called Flixster Collections, which basically tries to be like iTunes for movies, but is way ******** and less convenient.

ANYWAY, the point is, I want to watch it on iTunes. Is there a way to do it? --- I'm pretty worried the answer is no, since I googled it and came back with nothing, but I thought I'd ask ----

arkling - I agree with you totally - I have a whole household set up with itunes and apple TVs. I've got hundreds of movies purchased with digital copies, and i want to watch the film I buy using what I've got - it's nice and easy. If I have to have a flixter player too then when I watch someting I've now got to work out which retailer it was with, where their player works, and go sit at my mac in the office to watch it because I can't stream to the TV like everything else.

It's like buying a car only to find out that you're only allowed to use other roads and not the same ones as everyone else and none of those new roads go near the place you bought the car to drive to.

ok, thats a bit of hyperbole in there, but the sense of disappointment is the same.

I just got a new movie for my birthday that included UV. I was going to buy the movie myself on itunes so I thought, this was great. I'll download it onto my ipod and watch it on my apple tv. Surprise... Can't watch it on Apple TV. Seems alot of you have the same complaint I do. I'm not sure how long UV has been around but I guess there is a reason I have never bought this type of product before. I will continue to buy movies for itunes and be sure to avoid UV.

This is America so you have free choice because we have capitalism.

You can choose not to buy any product you don't like. The studio also has the right to sell any legal product that they like.

What are your options if you want the movie?

1. Buy an iTunes digital copy.

2. Buy a Blu-Ray with UV copy.

3. Buy a Blu-Ray without digital copy.

4. Don't buy the movie.

If you really want the movie option number 4 is just plain stupid. Option 1 gives you the digital copy but not the highest quality. Option 3 gives you the highest quality with no digital copy and this option is often not available. Only option 2 gives you both the highest quality and the digital copy.

I prefer iTunes versions over UV. However I am unwilling to cut off my nose to spite my face.

Also I would like to point out that thank goodness I did not give up on Blu-ray. With my Sony 48 inch Bravia television I cannot tell any real difference between 720 P, 1080 P, Blu-ray, or digital copies. Others might but I can't.

However this week I just installed a home projection system. I have 110 inch diagonal screen. Now I can tell the difference between the various versions. Blu-ray in 1080 P is just incredible.

I bought the Blu-ray hoping someday to buy just this system. Now that I have it I am so pleased!

Refusing to buy the Blu-ray copy just because it has UV hurts you far more than the studio if you really want the movie.

I just ordered the 3D Combo Pack two hours ago! I assumed the digital copy was UV only.

(I am not a hugh 3D fan but I want to try my glasses with the projector.)

Do you know if the iTunes download is SD or HD?

Things change fast and I agree with those who say it isn't always clear what download is included.

Here in the UK it was HD... The fact it was iTunes and nor UV was the reason I was so quick to part with my money, getting an HD digital copy AND iTunes extras was an added bonus.

I also noted that the UK release of Iron Man 3 didn't have any digital copy at all. I'd prefer that option to having a digital copy that is of no use to me, these are the first BD movies I've purchased in some months having been paying for iTunes copies instead.

Some of you need to calm down. The fact of the matter is that Apple(Steve Jobs) originally came up with the idea for a digital locker for all of your digital goods. They went around Hollywood trying to sign up studios. They were only successful in signing ONE, Disney. No surprise there as Jobs was their single largest shareholder.

Soon aftwards, some greedy studio heads got to thinking that they can go do this themselves and bypass Apple and Steve Jobs, and that's how UV was born.

So, the fact that UV doesn't work with Apple products is not UV's fault. If you knew about the history of how it came about you would realize why Apple has chosen to stay out of the UV network and is fastly sticking to their own memberless digital locker system. This could also mean that it will be a long time, if ever, that Apple will join the UV cabal. Certainly if Stev Jobs were still alive he would try to work his magic in getting Apple's digital locker idea working. But as of now, UV is clearly working and gaining market share everyday.
