Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?

Got Horrible Bosses on Blu-Ray and instead of a digital copy that downloads automatically to iTunes, they have this new "ultraviolet" digital copy that only downloads to some stupid thing called Flixster Collections, which basically tries to be like iTunes for movies, but is way ******** and less convenient.

ANYWAY, the point is, I want to watch it on iTunes. Is there a way to do it? --- I'm pretty worried the answer is no, since I googled it and came back with nothing, but I thought I'd ask ----

Forgive my ignorance, but my understanding of CFF is that it is basically set guidelines for file format containters, etc... (MP4 (H.264), AAC Audio, etc...) Does it also provide specific specifications for DRM or will each studio be releasing?

Any of 5 DRM schemes can be used and are supposed to work with any compatible player/device.

In general, I think DRM free versions would be the best, the movie files could still be fingerprinted for all I care (meaning you download a file that has your info embedded in the file somewhere so they can track you down if you pirate the move out to other people)

This is how iTunes music is now.

I can't see movie houses going DRM free. They feel they have too much to lose.

Last time I downloaded itunes on a new computer I couldn't get access to **** unless i paid for the $25/yr itunes match service to copy my library to the cloud and have access to my itunes library from any computer other than the one I initially downloaded all my crap to.

Log into your iTunes account, all your PURCHASED content (music, movies, tv shows, including iTunes codes from Blu Ray packages) are available for free over the cloud).

If you ripped content from elsewhere you need to copy or play it remotely. It's not rocket science to set up.

The match service uses the cloud to duplicate your ripped content so that it looks like you purchased it on iTunes. You don't need to pay for that.

I will only buy DVDs with iTunes Disgital copy. It's the only service that's truly "take anywhere". And what I resent is the big banner, "Digital Copy" and then the fine print "iTunes digital not available on this ...." For me, it's not 'digital copy' unless is iTunes digital. And now newer DVDs with iTunes digital come with the code and extra disc not needed. Just enter the code thru Apple Store. I don't like the message, that it's only a one time transfer.....but I'll cross that bridge when I'm up against that wall. This all needs to be resolved or we will quit buying any DVDs altogether. The iTunes digital permit me to watch a movie when I'm flying to Brazil to visit my daughter and Grand-dau or when I'm at my aunt's who does not have internet. Yes!! Not everyone has a computer or internet.

But, you can only take it with you IF you use all apple products and this isn't a few years ago, most people today don't. That is why the studios had to come up with a new system everybody could use, the old itunes only deal was a good fit when most all smart phones were apple and the same with tablets but, that landscape has changed dramatically over the last few years.....

Sure WORKS for me! I don't have an iPhone. Wouldn't want to watch a movie on any phone. I have a Net10 acct via a Samsung phone and love it. But my iTunes Library of movies is the ONLY one I can access my movies anytime, anywhere, any place! On my iPad Mini or my MACBoolPro! Does not require any service, of any kind. It is the only way I will go!!

No it's not.

It's all about and only about money.

They want more of it and don't want to pay Apple.

Chris CA is right about this.

Apple charges a large percentage fee to use the iTunes store for music & movies. The fee is something like 33% of the transaction cost which makes iTunes the least desirable way to sell anything.

I am not a Flixster/UV advocate myself but I do know that they charge significantly less than Apple does. I avoid using the iTunes store as much as possible unless they are the ONLY CHOICE for the content that I am trying to purchase.

You will only end up painting yourself into a corner with this kind of mentality.

I have no concern or care for Non-Apple users.

And yet there are more people that are NON-APPLE users.

Studios are trying to reach ALL CUSTOMERS, not just the small percentage of the Apple variety. I don't know if it is arrogance or ignorance that makes Apple users believe that Digital Copy = iTunes.

The landscape has changed as tafan has pointed out and you can either sit on the sidelines and complain (which gets you nowhere) or adapt and reap the rewards.
