Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?

Got Horrible Bosses on Blu-Ray and instead of a digital copy that downloads automatically to iTunes, they have this new "ultraviolet" digital copy that only downloads to some stupid thing called Flixster Collections, which basically tries to be like iTunes for movies, but is way ******** and less convenient.

ANYWAY, the point is, I want to watch it on iTunes. Is there a way to do it? --- I'm pretty worried the answer is no, since I googled it and came back with nothing, but I thought I'd ask ----

I will only buy DVDs with iTunes Disgital copy. It's the only service that's truly "take anywhere". And what I resent is the big banner, "Digital Copy" and then the fine print "iTunes digital not available on this ...." For me, it's not 'digital copy' unless is iTunes digital. And now newer DVDs with iTunes digital come with the code and extra disc not needed. Just enter the code thru Apple Store. I don't like the message, that it's only a one time transfer.....but I'll cross that bridge when I'm up against that wall. This all needs to be resolved or we will quit buying any DVDs altogether. The iTunes digital permit me to watch a movie when I'm flying to Brazil to visit my daughter and Grand-dau or when I'm at my aunt's who does not have internet. Yes!! Not everyone has a computer or internet.

You will only end up painting yourself into a corner with this kind of mentality.

And yet there are more people that are NON-APPLE users.

Studios are trying to reach ALL CUSTOMERS, not just the small percentage of the Apple variety. I don't know if it is arrogance or ignorance that makes Apple users believe that Digital Copy = iTunes.

The landscape has changed as tafan has pointed out and you can either sit on the sidelines and complain (which gets you nowhere) or adapt and reap the rewards.

Digital copy started by having iTunes support. Sure it also had WMC support but thats not really a service. Why wouldnt we have some confusion when they use the same branding to describe Ultraviolet?

Reap the rewards? I like being able to watch movies on my iPad while I'm out. You all will say "You can do that! Just stream it!!" but I have a 1gb cap. I can't stream one movie with that. With iTunes I can download the movie easily, and watch it later even if I'm offline. I watch most of my movies on the ipad in my work truck during breaks, on road trips and on a plane. Ultraviolet's movie apps are so bad I can't find certain movies on certain apps. It's a big guessing game. Ultraviolet should be boycotted since the movie studios get to control so much of it. We are just allowing them to put crazy restrictions on how we watch the movies we paid for. iTunes sets rules that make sense, the studios clearly thought they worked fine but they must not have liked Apple's fees or the lack of control. Ultraviolet is a messy service. Everytime I log into my account which is in a family plan tied with my cousin's account I never see the new movies. I dont use it often but I will sometimes use it to watch a movie I'm not sure i'll like. But, I'll use the app on my Xbox One but no new movies show up. Its like its frozen in time. I have to re-link my account with some confusing site. It's to the point now where its just not worth it. I will not spend the time being confused, forgetting my passwords for one of the 5 sites needed to use Ultraviolet. I really dislike it. The quality is lower no matter what they say about the Dolby Digital Plus. The bass isnt as deep, it sounds tinny and the video drops frames and artifacts badly. Even when I break down and watch a movie on the service the movie app on my console (360/Xbox One) will randomly stop playing and say there was a problem.

I wanted to like Ultraviolet. I like a cheap movie, good deals and I could buy tons of movies with codes at dirt cheap prices. But my time is more valuable and I refuse to be frustrated when trying to use something I paid for. Unfortunately Apple isnt doing the best job lately either. I've had many downloads fail, I get a "Watch" button when trying to download a movie I own instead of a download icon and occasionally movies will not delete, it just freezes. I've restored the iPad many times not using iCloud, visited the genius bar 3 times, got a new iPad from Apple yet nothing fixes it. After a restore I get about 2 weeks without issues. So I'm not just an Apple fanboy screaming and crying. I prefer Apple and love it when its working properly.

CXK,

I LOL'd at your plight, I know exactly what you mean about UV & the juggling of sites/pw just to watch something.

My point really is this, you are PURCHASING the DVD or Blu-Ray, the Digital Copy is a BONUS. It is up to the CONSUMER to asertain exactly what the Digital Copy means and it is stupid for anyone to ASSUME that Digital Copy mean iTunes.

If you want to guarantee that you have an iTunes version, then simply buy it from the iTunes Store.

hahah its so confusing I felt like I turned into my Grandpa when trying to figure it out. I just gave up, as I've gotten older (30 not 80) I stopped wanting to mess with things that arent respectful of my time. Another example is Windows, I used to love working on computers, building them and repairing but all of a sudden I was sick of reformatting and troubleshooting and tried the Mac.

Anyway, you're right about it being up to the consumer. The digital copy is not guaranteed to be for either service or there at all. I do like that they have started saying "Digital Copy Ultraviolet" on some of them. By this point I've learned what studios offer what code. To be honest I dont buy a lot of Blu-rays anymore now, I usually buy on iTunes directly and have a friend overseas with a movie kiosk and he sells or gives me his codes dirt cheap for iTunes movies.

If Apple doesnt figure out this strange problem I'm having I'll probably throw my ipad through a wall. I'm too invested now to get out of the iTunes ecosystem. I can watch my movies no problem on one of five Apple TV's in the house but the main reason I invested so heavily in iTunes movies and hardware was the ease of putting movies on my iPad without syncing.

What problem?

That UV is not compatible with iTunes?

My iPad has lots of trouble downloading movies from iTunes. Downloads fail, I'll have 5gb left and try to download a 1.5gb movie but it fails and loops continuously, movies dont have the option to download and once I even had some sort of icon glitch that was all too fitting to how I felt my iPad and iTunes were treating me. The arrows in my "Purchased" section all turned to shoes as if it was kicking me while I was down. I can't post a pic it says they're updating the forum but heres a link of the screenshot: www.myfilespot.net/user/cxk/ituneskick.png (please forgive the snapshot into my love of cheesy movies, I promise I have better ones down the list lol and the Beiber is NOT for me!) I've had others tell me they have these problems or similar ones but no one from Apple seems to know what to make of any of them. These forums are so quiet when it comes to Apple support members, I hope they read it. I'm on my second iPad from Apple and they both do this, I can't find any ryhme or reason to it either. I can tell you its caused me to think twice about buying another one even though I really want a 64gb or 128gb. I can't confidently pay that much until these problems are fixed.

El Pat0:

I have some Windows computers left, but I put them all into the closet on a rack where my network is based. I just remotely connect with them to do things I dont want to do or can't do on my Mac. I tried to get into PC gaming but for now I'll just use the Xbox's we have, that's enough for me. One of the Windows computers runs Windows Media Center and records all of our TV and streams it to Xbox 360's, I highly doubt that feature will ever come to Xbox One so I may eventually need another method. The rest are all work computers since we run the company from our house and they have to run Windows.

I was sort of anti Android after bad experiences with my HTC EVO 4G, it had awful battery life and was buggy. I know Android has made lots of improvements now though, I might consider checking that out. On that Media Server we run there are 400 ripped movies (DVD quality) that we slowly built up for years. I'm pretty sure Android could play them since their avi so I wouldnt have to convert them. I would love an unlimited plan for a tablet my iPhone has one I was grandfathered into on AT&T, but that unlimited plan starts to limit your speed drastically if you hit 5Gb in a month.

What tablet do you use?

What generation iPad are you using? That could be the problem. My wife's 4th Gen iPad runs everthing I throw at it but then again, I do direct file transfers of movies to it. I know that Kingston & Seagate have WiFi drives that you can use with your iPad to stream movies from.

Android does not have the refinement that iPhones have but with each new generation, they come closer. What they lack in refinement, they more than make up for in ability and versatility. My GS5 gives me 128GB SD card to store media on and my Galaxy Note 8 gives me 64GB. With an OTG USB cable, I can add any USB hard drive or flash drive to my Android for storage.

EDIT: T-Mobile uses same network as AT&T and has Unlimted Data with no caps.

I have the 3rd generation iPad. It still does alright, its not old enough to need an upgrade but I want more space as long as everything gets worked out. I'd love for Apple to kill off the 16gb versions of Phones/Pads and make 32 the minimum. I know they'll likely never add the SD card slot but that is an attractive feature of other tablets. If I got an Android anything I'd probably buy Google's brand or Samsung's.

Oh Dear Lord!

Don't shop at Costco when tired and toting two kids! Bought the Ultraviolet copy of The Lego Movie.

Everything is NOT awesome! Put in a ticket with Ultraviolet to try to get this to be actually downloadable, not just accessible. I feel that I bought the rights to own this mvie on itunes and NOT just accessibility!

Car trip this weekend is gonna be extra long if they don't come through.

Fingers crossed.

wish mem luck

Good luck with that.. I've tried contacting them several times asking to swap these useless UV keys for iTunes keys and they refuse to make the switch.

Because of this I don't buy any media that doesn't give me the option which digital copy format I prefer.

It should be our choice and not these greedy studios and/or distributers.

I'd post the emails on this forum, but I'm not sure Apple, Inc. would like to see some of the profanity in my replies.

The sum-up is "We cannot help you with this problem" and "We can help you set up an account". HECK NO! I can watch the movie, on my iMac! Not that terribly portable! iPad is wifi only! The problem is NOT that I can't watch the movie, it's that I cannot watch the movie on the devices that I want to see it on.

Poorest customer service I've seen in a while. Even though I didn't get an iTunes version, the replies seemed to be selected from a drop-down list with some random key jockey inputing their name at the top of the email.

THEN I was emailed a survey. I was very pleased to be able to share my exact thoughts with the Ultraviolet group.

So, as a public service warning to anyone reading this thread.....

DO NOT BUY AN ULTRAVIOLET COPY IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO WATCH A MOVIE ON WHATEVER DEVICE YOU CHOOSE!

I had a $18.00 lesson in suck!

Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?
