can't sync my voice memos in playlists

I have an iPhone 4. I recently updated my operating system to iOS5. My iTunes is updated to 10.5. In the past I have been able to create voice memos, successfully sync them, successfully move them to particular playlists I have set up in iTunes, and then successfully sync them again to appear on my phone in specific categories. I noticed today that not all the songs I have checked in my playlists are syncing. More specifically, this is occuring with the voice memos that I moved into my playlists. As an experiment, I tried saving the voice memos as mp3s. That seemed to work, but I don't want to assume that I'm going to have to convert every voice memo to an mp3 in order to see it again! I also noticed that every voice memo on my computer has been duplicated. Why is this happening? Thanks for any assistance!!

There's no solution here. Everyone talking it out cant see how much this is BS. I've had this issue with my iPhone for 2 years for random files that wont transfer.

I found the following work around from moodymisson another list Voice memos not appearing in iphone playlists, and it worked for me(!):

Select the Voice Memo(s) you want to add to, or already added to, playlists.
Right click on selection and select 'Get Info'
Select [Info] tab and change Genre from 'Voice Memo' to 'Unknown'
Select [Options] tab and change Media Kind from 'Voice Memo' to 'Music'
OK

Now when you sync your device, the playlists you've added voice memos to should sync properly - my first sinc after doing this got hung, I cancelled it and restarted both my laptop and my iphone, then did sync again and it successfully downloaded my playlists complete with voice memos

You can experiment with changing it to other Genres and Media Kinds, I just did exactly what was reported to have worked (after wasting way too much time trying to troubleshoot) and it worked.
