Calendar Address iCloud Lightning Sync

I just tried the above method. Am running the latest versions of Thunderbird/Lightning.

It is taking a LONG time to populate the calendar with events. However, in the email section the right pane has the most current events displayed.

Is this normal?

Dunno. Not really.

It took so long to update and at times the program went sort of faded out with the "program not responding" message at the top of the window, that eventually I gave up.

I had the same problem a year ago when I was experimenting with Thunderbird and Lightning as a possible replacement for Outlook when trying to get it to sync with Google Calendar.

Have decided that trying to mix and match competing technologies like this isn't worth the hassle for very little, if any, benefit.

This calendar stovepipe is stupid. I hope BlackBerry gets its act together. I really miss its seamless calendar and awesome email. The iPhone remains far ahead of other devices is most areas but the calendar is a critical tool for business. I don't want to be locked into any company's proprietary system. That is the one area where Blackberry excelled. Are there reasons other than ego and greed why Apple won't allow me to sync my calendar with other software?

I'm running Thunderbird 17.0.4 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 with Lightning 1.9.1.

On my Mac (10.8.3) I searched the .../Library/Calendars folder and found some information in different .plist-files

The principal-URL seems to be: https://p04-caldav.icloud.com:443/#myUniqueIDHere#/calendars/principal.

I added a new calendar, changing the URL to https://p04-caldav.icloud.com:443/#myUniqueIDHere#/calendars/Privat where 'Privat' (yes, I'm german) is the name of the Calendar. I had to take a look ar some other .plist-files to prove.

I was wondering wether the port number has to be part of the URL or not. So I tried both. No luck. Calendar ist still not available (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark shows a mouse-over-hint).

Tried different calendars as well (privat, work, Work, arbeit, Arbeit,...) but all the same

Try "home". And if not home, I would try "private" instead of "Privat"

I don't think Apple will put the i18n'ed version on their server...

And btw.: Did you put the trailing slash to the URL?

Are you behind a HTTP(S)-Proxy?

And if so - did you setup Thunderbird to use the Proxy? (Normally you don't care about HTTP-Proxies in Thunderbird, since you use POP3 and/or IMAP...)

Nope. No HTTP proxy here.

Just the router (FritzBox) and me.

What happens if you paste your URL to a browser and authenticate?

You will not see much if your URL works like mine. But if I enter an URL with a wrong User-ID, it get "Forbidden"...

I pasted the URL in Chromium and authenticated but it says:

Not Found

The resource /xxxxxxx/calendars/home/ cannot be found.

Well - in this case Lightning will have a hard time to form a calendar out of it :-D

Try to find out your corrent URL. If the .plist-files-approach doesn't help you, try network-sniffing while using the Mac OS Calendar App.

You're so right. Unfortunately.

I tried using Little Snitch to find out the correct URL. But LS only shows the server name but not the full path. At least the server name was correct.

Any hint what tool I might use?
