Calendar Address iCloud Lightning Sync

Hi there,

haven't been able to find any solution for this issue yet:

I want to sync my iCloud Calendar with Mozilla Lightning (w/o using Google Calendar). Does anyone know where I can get the web address of my iCloud Calendar from? CalDAV, ICS, whatever.

🙂 Yes, you guessed right - I indeed replaced the number by my user ID. I actually seems to have correctly connected: I also tried another username which the server did not accept. So the connection seems to be established correctly.

I am using Windows 7 SP 1 with Thunderbird 10.0 and Lightning 1.2.1 (also tried it with TB 9.x, but same problems). The error console shows your already mentioned "p06-caldav.icloud.com : server does not support RFC 5746. see CVE-2009-3555" and

1. (when trying iCal) no error message, but no data is imported. When I try to "refresh external calendars", it just says "checking calendar...." and nothing furher happens.

2. (when trying via calDAV) "Warning. Error when reading data for calendar: work. Error code: DAV_NOT_DAV. Description: Ressource at https://p0x-caldav.icloud.com/userID/calendars/work/ is either no DAV collection or not available."

Seem to keep stuck at this point.

There we have it:

Okay - this said, I found this:

If this doesn't help you, you could open a bug at Mozilla:

That's all I can advise you to do.

Good luck.

what I did in order to make sure that the link itself is correct was to install Sunbird to test the links. Sunbird DOES NOT HAVE the "connection problem" that Lighning did have before 1.2.1.

However ... that is a laborious undertaking. And that was 6 month ago ... I don't know how meanwhile Sunbird ... developed. Probably nothing changed as (as far as I know) Sunbird will be discontinued.

If you have some spare time it might be worth a shot ...

I found the solution yesterday after trying the methods mentioned here and in a couple of other places.

1. In your browser, login to iCloud and open Calendar.

2. Click on the little greyed-out "Share Calendar" icon beside the name of any calendar you want to view in Thunderbird/Lightning.

3. There are 2 options - Private and Public. Select Public.

4. A URL will be provided for anyone you want to share your calendar with. It starts with "webcal" instead of "https". Select and copy this URL.

5. Go to Thunderbird/Lightning and create a new calendar. (File->New->Calendar or just right-click an existing calendar and select "New Calendar" from the pop-up menu.)

6. Create the calendar "On the Network" and click "Next".

7. For "Format" select "iCalendar (ICS) and paste the sharing URL from #4 into the "Location" box. Click "Next"

8. Give your calendar a name. Select the colour and update frequency that you want. Click "Next".

9. Click "Finish".

10. Repeat for each calendar you want to view in Thunderbird/Lightning.

Publicly subscribed calendars are supposed to be read-only. I haven't tried to add any events on T/L yet (am having issues with clearing reminders that keep popping up and slowing things down, which I'm going to investigate next) but even though it's possible in T/L to unclick "read-only" in the calendar's properties (right-click) , a little lock keeps reappearing beside some of the calendars on my list so I'm not really expecting to be able to do so.

I hope this works for all of you too!

I am using Thunderbird/Lightning on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I am trying to sync iCloud Reminders with my Lightning Tasks. I tried Stephan Samn's Feb. 2 recepie. This works fine for Calendar items but not for Reminders. I was expecting to see see an Info.plist entry for "reminders" but there isn't one. I only see entries for home, inbox, notification, and outbox. I tried all of these, and "inbox" is the only one that connects without errors, but it only shows Calendar entries, no reminders.

I used a similar recepie with iCal and iCal on Snow Leopard, which works fine with iCloud Reminders. But I would really like them to work with Thunderbird/Lightning. Anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Thanks for the help!

Please ignore my previous post. I found an Info.plist entry for https://p0X-caldav.icloud.com/nnnnnnnnnn/calendars/tasks/ and it works!, Lightning recoginizes my iCloud Reminders as Tasks and they correctly show up in the "Tasks" tab. My only issue is that they don't appear in the "Today Pane". I know that with Tasks in native Lightning Calendars I need to have a Reminder of "before task ends" to make them visible in the Today Pane. Unfortunately those options are greyed out in Lighting for my Tasks in my iCloud calendar, and there is no User Interface to set them in iCloud or on iOS.

I figured out how to set a Lightning Custom Reminder in Tasks created on iCloud with iCal or the iPhone Reminders app. I needed to press the "Add" button in the Lightning Custom Reminder dialog, then modify the properties of the newly added reminder. This differs from Tasks created directly with Lightning, where a custom reminder is automatically added when the dialog is first launched,

So I am now able to keep my iCloud Tasks in sync, regardless of whether they were created in Lightning, iCal, or iPhone. There are some limitations:

  1. Reminders created on the iPhone have their reminder date the same as the due date. This can't be changed on the iPhone. This is a limitation of the Apple software and has nothing to do with Lightning. The reminder date can be edited later in iCal or Lightning if needed.
  2. To Do's with an alarm created on iCal don't have a reminder when synced to a Task on Lightning. A reminder can be added using Lightning if needed.
  3. Tasks with reminders created on Lightning, or created on iCal or iPhone and later modified by Lightning, appear to sync correctly to both iCal ToDo's and iPhone Reminders.

In spite of these limitations, I am now very happy 🙂 Thanks to Stephan and all the other posters who made this possible!
