Text/iMessage alert tone problem since ios5 update

i to have this problem did the update 5.01

fix the problem blacklight ?

I didn't have the problem anymore since a restart on 5.0, but if you are on 5.0.1 and have this problem it's obviously not fixed. :/ Let's see if it comes back for others too.

I got this bug too, even after update to 5.0.1 problem still exist now i'm trying the solution reset network setting plus disable vibrate function... let's see for a few days...

my iphone 4 updated to 5.0.1 is still having this stuttering tone problem...whenever a message comes it stutters specially when the text chatting screen is there. it is very annoying please help.

I have already reported this feedback to apple twice, but no one even cares to reply me on this. :-x

sandy have you try to reset your network setting ? so far this trick can fix my tone problem

Just for the record, I have 5.0, not you updated to 5.0.1. I have the same problem with all notifications. I suspect there are 2 background processes running, 1 the original notification engine, and 1 the notification center, both of which are playing sounds at the same time! Anyway, I dont care what the problem is, its the most irretating bug on the iPhone, its enough for me to seriously start considering Android. Apples mantra of "It just works!" is obviously not true anymore, quality of the product is going downhill quickly.

I have use both iOS and Android... I can say that both have their advantages 😎

I used to have the same problem, and i tried a hard/soft reboots and the problem dissapeared temporarily as mentioned. today i removed a couple of my installed apps, and the problem is now gone. i dont know if the problem will appear again, but everythings going on well right now....

ya i tried doing dat but its not helping...u temme what u have done in that...what i do is when ever this problem starts i reboot my phone thats it because have no other option to deal with it n i switched from blackberry to iphone n now i think i took a wrong step...blackberry is anyday better then iphone in such cases.

One simple question. Do we all have what'sapp installed. I think that is the root cause.

I wonder if Apple are even aware of this bug. If it's not even on their radar there's no chance of a fix.

I do have Whatsapp installed. Can you explain why exactly you think it's related to the problem?

This is seriously very irritating, i cannot believe apple has not found a solution to this yet. My cousin has had this problem for weeks now on his 3GS, i only bought my 4S yesterday and it is playing up, its disgusting that apple are ignoring something that is clearly affecting many people. the noise is just getting worse with each text, if it doesnt stop, im going back to apple and through warranty getting a new one soon.... ''just because of a sound?'' YES, THE MOST IRRITATING SOUND!!!!! i didnt pay that much for a phone for it to annoy me on the second day of ownership.

I think the main problem here is that Apple's iOS has always been very polished, a joy to use. Problems like these are extremly annoying, something I would expect from a fragmented Android system but definitely not from an iPhone. But, there have always been problems and usually those were fixed within a few updates. Let's just hope for that. The battery issue is most likely a priority now.
