Text/iMessage alert tone problem since ios5 update

Since I updated my 3gs to ios5 last week, when I recieve a text message or iMessage, the tone 'stutters' before playing. At first it was quite funny, after I had switched the handset off and on again, it stopped doing it for a few hours, but then started again. It's now quite annoying. Has anyone else had the same issue or can advise me on what to do to fix it? Many thanks in advance 🙂

I didnt restore from a backup eithor, but that was beasue it was running REALLLLY slow when i restored from backup.

I think that its possable (in theory at least) that its some sort of app (with background services) which are causing the conflict.

These are the apps I have, does anyone have any of the same ones?

Sorry, bit of a long list, but purhapse we can work out whats giving us this bug and no one else!

I have a white iPhone 3gs, on giffgaff (powered by o2) in the UK. I set it up as a new iphone - not from a restore, but it was syncing my existing apps from itunes. I also use ibooks, ipod, photos and video!

So far we know that:

- This bug is only in iOS5

- Effects 3gs, iphone 4 aswell as 4s (So possably all iOS 5 devices)

- Causes the text message sound & Vibration to stutter and repeat.

Its alost possable that it is because of some wierd setting that we have in comon, The only thing i can think of that i have spesificly changed from the defualt, is having custom ringtones and text message sounds for differant people.

Anyways!

Just thought I would write it all out, hopefully we can work out whats causing it.

Hey dude... Do you have face book app installed on ur phone (facebook and messenger) ?? I think this is the app that's creating all this non sense. I think there is some background thread is running once u use these apps which is causing this. I deleted these 2 apps yesterday and reset my phone. I dint face the shuttering problem till now.. Have to wait n c.. But i guess this is working out..

You know what to check this you can do one thing before deleting these..

Reset your phone n send msgs to ur phone there would not be any annoying noise

Now open facebook app and its messenger and use it for a while, chat in the messenger for atleast 10 mins

No send some text message to ur phone n slowly the shuttering starts

Try it out and if it works, delete the FB app.

So the problem is nothing to do with ios 5. Its the FB app that shud be updated to fit to ios5

I been playing about with this, now when I get a text message, i get the alert tone around SIX times in succession (stuttering style)

So I went to notifications, opened up the messages, and disabled everything!

Notification Center: off

Alert style: banner

Badge app icon: off

show preview: off

repeat alert: off

view in lock screen: off

Now when I get a text i get just ONE alert (correct). So it seems that something is triggering the message alert tone and its nothing to do with the messages notifications!

I have Apple Care and had a LONG discussion with them.

I was told by the Apple guy that this is the first time he has ever had this call(!)

Tried his approach of setting the phone up as new and unfortunately it didnt work.

I have now uninstalled Facebook and rebooted my phone, everything is ok (for now)

Facebook was known to break notifications but they say its fixed, maybe not for all tho?
