Well, I have read every word on the 17 pages of this post. I have been following it for about a week. I too have the same problems described before me. Last night I tried the shutdown all devices, restart wifi, restart modem, restore all on iphone, and then reconnect. That didn't work. I was happy to see someone providing another solution, but that didn't work either. I'll continue to monitor to see what comes up, but this is very frustrating. Keep your posts coming.

I have posted in here before, because I had wifi problems with my 4s just like everyone else. I called apple care and did everything they asked. I went to the genius bar and got a new iphone and still the same problem. On my second trip to the genius bar, I finally got an answer that has worked for the past 3 weeks. I was told that my backup on itunes was probably corrupted, so when I do a restore of my phone I should use icloud as my backup as opposed to using my itunes back up. The down side would be I would have to redownload all of my apps and pictures. So, I restored my phone as a new phone and set up my icloud info back onto the phone and redownloaded my apps and pictures. I have had no issues with my wifi ever since. I don't know if this helps others out there, but it sure worked for me. Good luck to everyone, I know how frustrated you must be, because I was for the longest time.

Let's start the fix in 2 stages:

  1. First, tap on Settings. Tap on General. Tap on Reset. Tap on Reset Network Settings. Your problems should be resolved now.
  2. Second, connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. Now restore your iPhone via iTunes. iTunes will then restore your iPhone to the Factory Defaults. Your issue must be resolved here.

If none of the above issues fix this. Simply turn your router and modem off for about 1 minute. Then turn on and see if the issue still persists or resolves.

I see I am not the only one banging my head on the computer table! I had/have the iphone 4, got the 4s yesterday. Everything seemed very slow in terms of downloading if it would download at all. Turning off Wifi on both phones and using 3G, the 4s would out perform the 4 with speedtest.net. Leave on the Wifi and the 4 would download at 5 mbps and the 4s was all over the map 5 sometime, 2 sometimes, .5, and .00 others. SOmetimes I try testing it on the 4s and I get nothing, but do the 4 at the same time and I get 5 so I know its not my WIFI in my house. It has to be something with the 4S. Did a Reset network, reset all and then a full restore and no go. Called Apple and after all that, they said to go into Apple and get a new one because something was wrong with the WIFI in the 4S, did that and guess what, same thing in the new phone! tried what jkhuggin said and still a no go. I want to throw this thing thru t he wall, I am sticking with my 4 until apple comes out with something that can help me!! I tried what Pokharel mentioned mutiple times many hours ago and that didnt work for me!

Just completed another complete restore, this time I picked a new apple ID and everything including starting as a new phone and not taking from backup from my Iphone 4. Still no dice for me. I have tried everything in this post except changing my routers. It is an older wireless cable modem but if it works for all of my other devices including the iphone 4 next to me, so why in the world would I need to get a different one for the 4s???

Jan 29, 2012 2:21 PM in response to shaheeriqbal

I wouldn't bother changing the router... Been there done that.. Spent an hour in apple store the

Other day... It locked up, when I showed the genius / useless tech the fault in active state, he brushed me

To oneside and said my problem wasn't a big one as all I had to do was turn wifi off/on to reset it,,, great customer

Service. The 4S has a fundamental wifi problem -FACT. And apple cannot be bothered to help the people who have the issue. Streaming on sky go or YouTube is pointless. I have had 3 phones, 3 diff routers, all setup in all various ways. Everything else works but the 4S. Even apple over phone said there was nothing else I can do or try and I'm waiting for next steps from them.... I'm not holding my breath. 3GS and iPad plus all other equipment works great

I had a WiFi-problem with my 4S. Every time I used Skype the connection froze and I had too restart my 4S to get my WiFi back and my router gave me some indication that the trafic somehow didnt work with it or something. Same each time.

I tried to restart, reconfigure and much more.

The solution to my problems was the new version of Skype when it came out. Now I don't loose connection to my WiFi anymore.

I cant say what you should do because my problem went away and might not be the same as yours. But maybe you should try using the WiFi connection on your 4S but with no apps running (dubbletap the button and close all running apps) or even without having any apps in the phone except the ones already on the Iphone when you got the phone from the store.

Because if the bad version of Skype killed my WiFi on my 4S there might be other apps doing the same thing with yours.

Just a thought.

Hope your WiFi trouble goes away.

I am facing exactly the similar problem. I also have iphod touch. Wi-fi works on ipod, but it is not working on iphone thought the settings are same in both. Wi-fi also works on my laptop at the same time. Wi-fi is not getting connected in iphone 4Sonly.

There is no problem in ios5 as wi-fi works fine in ipod touch having ios5. I am quite sure that there is some problem in hardware or antena receiving wi-fi signals in iphone 4S.

I didn't expect such a bad quality from apple. Based on performance of ipod touch I preferred to buy an iphone. iphone 4S is not upto the task!!!

Can someone suggest solutions to overcome the problems?

Don't ask me how. But my wifi and battery issues with my new 4S have gone away. But before the wifi issue resolved itself, what I did was take the wep and wpa security off of the router. Then I unchecked the SSID so the network appeared invisible to anyone who didn't know the name of the network. I only logged into web sites that had the little padlock above the web address.

I don't know if this will help anyone here but my GF's 4s kept dropping Wi-Fi connection even though it said it could see the router, while my 4s was fine. After a few week of trying different things I'd come to the conclusion her iPhone was knackered, but then I thought of the only thing that is different between our iPhones; and that was the portrait lock. Stupid I know BUT after switching her portrait lock off the Wi-Fi is fine and has been since doing it. It hasn't stuck or not connected since knocking it off, it could be just coincidence but it literally connected as soon as I tried after switching portrait lock off.

I have Wi Fi problem with my 4S too. After 1 hour after connection the network freezes and only phone restart makes internet working again.

I return my phone and gave me new, which has the same problem.

I thing this problem depends of which batch is the phone.Returned phone and current are produced 42 week(October).

For me it is a hardware problem because i made 2 restores without back up, tried to reset phone and network settings, changed router but problem is still here.

Check your phone here http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html and post week of producing to see whether problem is related with producing date.

Hey Guys. All this expeculation is nice, but the thing is: I don't want to make any of this things the rest of my life to be able to use my wifi. This need to be solved by Apple only, not by, reset, or buying a new rolter, or turning on and off. This all is an absurd. I has happy with my iphone 4, that i pass to my sister and pick this new one 4s.

Apple, Where is the solution?
