Same problem for both me and my girlfriend just with 4s iphones.

My gf had a 3g that worked fine on the home network for ~2 years. Upgraded to iphone 4s, and it worked perfect for several days and then wifi would just randomly stop working yet appear normal. Reconnecting to the router would get it working briefly again, a matter of minutes, then it would just stop working again but still appear to be connected.

Doing research at the time, I found some people fixed it by changing to manual wireless router channel, which I did and it worked for my GF's phone. A week ago I got my own 4s iphone, and it worked perfectly until yesterday. Same issues where wifi will just stop working yet all appears normal. I can renew lease or reconnect to the router and gain brief use of wifi again, and then it will eventually just stop working.

I'm going to mess around with my router settings and hopefully apply a band-aid but from all the posts there is clearly a iOS software or hardware problem, or both.

Please fix this!

Same problem here. Got my 4s since mei and had nod problems so far since this weekend. Have a good connection with my network but the internetacces freezes every 5 to 30 minutes. When I turn off the wifi for a short while it works again for about the same time...... very annoying!! Any tips here or is waiting for the IOS 6 release the only option??

I am experiencing a problem (WiFi Greyed Out) with my iPhone 4S which I recently purchased, Its so annoying...

Does anybody out there know of a fix which does not include taking my phone apart.

I tried placing it in my freezer for 5-10 mins and it worked fine only for about 7.521234564 minutes. Please help as I do not like the idea of capping my broadband via my Carrier.

FFS - Someone out there must know??

Ok so I think I have finally sorted this one, an I hope I can help a lot of people!!!

First you must reserve an IP address for your iPhone to avoid any conflicts. Any quick google search for your specific router should describe this process (please note this is different to a static ip and much simpler).

Change the channel your router is set on (google it people)

Finally and most importantly you must have the network either unsecured (not recommended) or using a WEP key. It must not be any WPA security etc as this is the cause of the problem.

Try it, feedback please!!!

All I did was reset my router using the Reset Button on the back of the router and powered it off for a few minutes. Once I turned it back on it worked just fine.

You can use WPA security as I am using it and connected just fine. You can also use the default DHCP settings and let the router auto-assign you an IP address. No need to manually reserve one.

I hope this helps anyone having issues connecting to WIFI on their iPhone.

If anyone needs any assistance or anymore details about what I did to fix my issue just let me know.

Same wi-fi problems here with my 4s. Sparatic loss of wi-fi for a while ,but now i cant connect to any wi-fi. This is frustating for iphone user as like many people i know,, my wi-fi is as important to me , if not more, than as a cell phone .

Why is this taking Apple so long to address ????????????? Starting to second guess my Apple loyalty..

Ive had a similar problem, at times the wifi button will be completely greyed out so i would have to reset my iphone holding the power and home button, at other times it would search and never find the wifi even when literally placed on the router.

When it did find my router it either wouldnt connect or connect for 10 seconds and switch back off, after trying everything from fully restoring my phone and loosing nearly everything, i even seen a video of people putting their phones in the freezer for 45 mins which for some it worked but unfortunately not for me, then i tried to downgrade my ios software to 5.1.1 because everyone was saying the new ios was causing the problem.

Eventually after three days of searching online for answers i seen one about resetting your network setting, this is the one that working for me i just had to find my wifi which it did straight away and retype the passcode.

Seems like a simple solution apart from the fact i lost nearly all my files restoring it,

hope this works for everyone or helps atleast.

I have not been able to totally fix it since the Fios router are crappy. However, if you turn off the N part of the wifi and only run the G broadcast, it will make the signal seem stronger and the access more consistent.

Wireless Settings > Advanced Security Settings > In the Level 3: Limit access to certain wireless devices section Click on the 802.11b/g/n Mode label > set 802.11 Mode: to Legacy Mode (802.11 b/g)

Hope that helps. It's not as nice ore as fast a N but it works.

Downgrading it seems like a band-aid fix. My router is a dual N, wonder if that bugs it?

When I get home from work (wifi there), my Iphone sees my home wifi (and claims to be connected to it) but won't use it. I get sporadic data that's often incomplete. Turning wifi on/ff no help. Resetting network connections no help. Restarting the phone works until later on sometime when I come home from work and the problem is back.My signal strength is no problem and never has been. I can do this with the phone resting on the router. I see the bars of the wi-fi strength and next to that no "busy" icon. Ap's time out.

My 4 didn't do this under OS5. Something doofy under OS6.
