Iphone 4S wifi problem

Hello everyone, I have been facing same problem, till yesterday I was able to connect to Wifi network and browse internet over phone but starting today I have been able to connect to the network with full strength but not able to browse internet and not able to use any apps like Facebook, Gmail, etc. I tried resetting the network settings, restarting the phone various times, but nothing helped. Anyone got this issue sorted out pls help.

Phone: iPhone 4S.

OS: iOS 6.

The only real luck i had was changing my wireless routers wifi channel. Havent had the problem since ios6 but it was stable for a while before that. Im guessing, but i think the iphone is just susceptible to some common form of interference and switching the wifi channel helps to get around it. /shrug

I have been experiencing a problem with my wifi since yesterday. I can't turn my wifi on on my iphone 4S. The wifi slide is grey. I have tried everything from reseting the phone to turning it on and off etc.. I went to apple store today and they gave me an appointment after next Thursday. This seems to be a problem when I upgraded to IOS 6. I know now that lots of iphone 4S are experiencing the same problem after downloading the new IOS 6 software. I can't wait till next week and I need my wifi work again so anyone has any suggestions how to restore it.

I let the battery drain dead left it a few hours then put it on charge the greyed out wifi button came back switched it on and hey presto wifi back great I thought but last night it happened again so now I turned it off switched it back on reset network settings on the phone and put in the password and its back on again for how long who knows

Went to the apple store today and they know about it they have sacked the guy who done io6 and are working on a fix but what they seem to think is its an hardware problem so if your phone out of warranty you will have buy another one that what they said to me today but its funny all this started when you downloaded io6

All we all want from apple is for them to admit there a problem and they are trying to fix it as they don't seem bothered and think they are going to lose some customers me being one of them

I had a problem too. New iphone4s would not connect to home wifi. After trying at least a million fixes. changing the wifi channel did it.

Wi-Fi is completely inaccessible with a grayed out Wi-Fi option even after the recent 6.0.1 update. As before, this problem seems to strike Apple iPhone 4S users far more often than other users. Any Apple device running iOS 6.x may be vulnerable though.

Someone here suggested to try switching WiFi channels, which I went into my router's config to do. While I was there, my router wanted to have its firmware updated. The problem went away. New OS, new firmware?

Never did figure out where the channel setting is for the WiFi.

After some peace with the router upgrade, my 4 is back to its old ways (two days in a row and counting) of not using the home wifi after the work wifi. Again the only "fix" is to restart my phone. Then it works.

BTW, changing channels did NOT work.

Ryanocerus, did you ever find a solution for your iPhone 4s wifi issues? What you describe sounds like the problem I'm having. I'm on iOS 6.0.1 on an iPhone 4s.

I have also the same problem. WiFi is gone........ Put the phone in flight mode en turn it back off wil help for a short time. And then the grey button problem. Shut down, reset the phone or restore to fac defaults, sometime it works but its not a hard solution. Apple, what is the problem? Is it hardware or software?

Same problem here. Daughter's iPhone 4s won't use Wifi, option greyed out. Done all options (airplane mode, reset network settings, reset all settings). Wondering about the downgrade from 6 to 5.1.1 but not a real fan... Sometimes the wifi option is no longer greyed out but even then, when i try to connect to wireless networks, it just sits there forever, not finding any wireless networks to connect to... very frustrating... the fact that thousands of others have the same issue only makes my frustration grow : when are they going to fix this??

Regarding the grey wifi slider: I'm pretty sure if you go to a Genius Bar they'll replace the phone under warranty.

About the grey bar, this problem is not always there. When iam to genius bar you will see there is no problem.

I have restored my phone with iTunes one hour ago and put my iCloud backup on it. Now its downloading my apps and 3 times WiFi is dropt down..... Turn WiFi of and on is a tempory sollution.

What is wrong with my phone?

Would you be able to leave the slider grey until you could get to a Genius Bar? Maybe just go in and tell them it's been happening occasionally - they may take your word for it since it's a known issue.
