Cliff notes version of my proposed fix (details explained in earlier post dated Nov 3, 2011 8:57 AM EST)

  1. "reset all settings" (settings -> general -> reset -> reset all settings)
  2. on reboot select set phone as new (DO NOT restore from a backup)
  3. Immediately disabled the "setting time zone" (settings -> location services -> system services -> setting time zone (select off))

That's it if on step 2 you perform a full erase that is fine - but if you dont want to set your phone up from scratch (like install apps and music files etc) then "reset all settings" will work. They key is to NOT restore / install a backup because it will reinstall the old configuration files and you will have the wifi problem again

You DO NOT restore a "BACKUP" from either your computer or your iCloud. If you just do a reset all settings and NOT an erase everything you will have everything on your phone except you will just have to essentially add your favorite ringtones, backgrounds, and wireless connection info.

If you did erase your phone then just SYNC it for your contacts, music, apps, etc but again DO NOT RESTORE the BACKUP file from your computer or iCloud.

I think this might be related to the iPhone 4s new compatibility with the 801.11n standard. I am not 100% sure, however, I have the same problem with my Windows laptop with a 801.11abg+n wireless card and my crappy Fios router. However, my previous HTC incredible and all other non-8011.11n compatible devices work fine. Replacing the router with a 801.11n compatible model might be the only way to solve this issue unless Apple is able to fix. I could be wrong, but just some thoughts.

I've been having a problem along these lines. iPhone 4S seems to have stopped working over the last few days on my home network. I've just rebooted my router (Netgear DG834Gv4) then forgot network on iPhone and reestablished connection. Now seems to be working (fingers crossed).

BTW, have had the router since beginning of last year (I think) and have never upgraded firmware.

Just an update.

Rebooting the router has so far been the only way to get 4S to lock on to wifi. Have continued to try suggested experiments for which I am grateful but unfortunately they haven't been successful.

This has been the fourth time I have needed to reboot the router in 2 weeks. Last time it recognized router for 3 days before dropping out.

I, too, have this problem. Recieved my 4S on Wednesday and my home WiFi and uni's WiFi was working great up until Friday evening/yesterday. It says it's connected but I get 30 seconds to 2 minutes tops of connectivity until it "breaks". Most of the solutions posted here have no affect on how long the WiFi continues to work; I have to keep turning the WiFi off and on to get that 30 seconds to 2 minutes of usage.

I can't speculate on whether or not it's a hardware issue or a software issue, but I'm just hoping it's software related and that Apple are working on it. Though it would be nice to hear some form of official acknowledgement of the situation.

I bought my iPhone 4S around luanch and the WiFi has worked fine up until now, it completely stopped working its not my router because all my other devices like my iPad are working fine, I use an Airport Extreme routher, but anyways my wifi appears to not even connect to the router, i even tried reseting network settings PLUS I used the forget network and put the password in again, yet NOTHING the WIFI IS NOT WORKING? and since I am 2 and a half hours from an Apple Store this is a big problem for me! please someone tell me how to fix this issue!
