Same here. With my Iphone 4 I was playing music via the airport express on my sound station in the living room. After upgrading to the Iphone 4S I have constantly that my connection breaks. Even when sitting in the living room. So annoying!

For the price I paid for this phone I hope they fix this soon! I have the feeling that with each upgrade since the Iphone 4, more and more flaws are occuring. Is quality not top priority anymore??

I have had these wifi drop problems for weeks and have tried all suggestions...even setting the router channel to the highest number (11 inthe US). No Joy! When the wifi is working it is very fast...too bad it only lasts for about 2 minutes! It seems Apple is too concerned with the 4s battery drain...which I haven't experienced, to work on this wifi problem. I hope they address this issue very soon. Love the speed of wifi, but it needs to be there for more than 2 minutes. Get on it Apple! I got the Apple tv for use with the new 4s phone, but need the wifi.

I just purchased my iPhone 4S yesterday and it won't even connect to any wifi at all. As soon as I click join on any network, the network bar just keeps spinning as if its still trying to connect to it. My iPhone 4 doesn't have that problem and its updated to iOS 5. I tried everything with the 4S. I did a hard reset, button reset, factory reset, erase all network, reset settings and all the other reset options. I did everything and still nothing. It can't be the iOS 5 software because the iPhone 4 seems to be working fine for me and so are all my other apple devices. The 4S is the only device having trouble connecting. Most people have had the wifi work for at least a day or two. I didn't have it working at all. Something has to be done soon. I better be getting a new one for this. I spent a lot of money for something that doesn't even work properly.

I just did...this is not just a wifi problem, this is definitely become a widespread bug of the iOS 5. Conforting this theory is that everyone who upgrades his iPhone4 to iOS5 encounters the connectivity issue.

Unfortunately, it seems like the iOS 5.0.1 has been already delivered to developers and I guess that means that at Apple stopped working on the upgrade before we started talking about wifi problems.

Does somebody have extra info about the upgrade to 5.0.1?

I discovered this issue last week and posted a question about it. It's nice to know this has gained momentum such that a fix is in the pike. I'll look forward to it. The added problem is that the phone won't re-establish the WiFi connection nor time out and move to 3G, so it spins and drains the battery quickly if not noticed. All I have to do to re-establish the connection is turn off the WiFi and turn it back on.

I tried this. It worked for 10min and then the same this happened. So far I have:

  • Restored all phone settings
  • Reset network settings
  • Changed the network to fixed
  • Down loaded the latest software (this did see a slight improvement)
  • Cleaned the sim
  • Changed my routed frequency
  • Turned the phone on and off
  • Forgotten nextwork and re-connected
  • Turned Wifi on and off

All of these things resulted i the Wifi working for a short time and then the same problem occurs. One observation i did make was that it seems to happen as soon as I try and watch a quick time movie i.e. you tube, bbc iplayer etc.

My brother has the Iphone 4 and he has the same problems on my network but not on others. I have the 3GS and this has always worked fine.

I am having a simular problem but not exactly the same. I have 2 routers. My Mac, iPhone (4S) and iPad (original) are all on 1 router so iTunes can back up the phone & iPad. Almost daily the iPhone switches to the 2nd router and I get an error message in iTunes that it can't backup my iPhone. I have to go in and switch the network but it switches back by the next day. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having a similar issue but mine will connect to my wifi at home and the 20 minutes later it will quit working, when it does that I look at the properties of the router and both the router number and the DNS numbers have changed, the last group went from .254 to .251. t starting to work a couple of days ago but this morning it has gone back to the same problem I just discribed. And to make matters worse when I get to work I try to get onto the wifi at work and a notice comes up telling my that my password is wrong.

I bought my 4s the day it came out and had no issue up until about a week ago, I have spent many hours on the phone with Apple senior tech support and AT&T techs and did everything that asked me to do with no results, I can hook up to a public wifi with no issue which the Apple tech is a 100% indicator it is a router issue which do not not believe and he said he had heard nothing similar regarding my issue so I doubt their well on their way to fixing the problem.
