Icloud IMAP server "p01-imap.mail.me.com" rejected the password "XXXX." and The password is ok!. After several attempts to synchronize with them sometimes

This is doing my head, converted my mothers account today to icloud from .me/.mac account.

Have tried all the imap settings in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864 in Mail, also from Win 7 and Outlook 2007 configured for IMAP and get password errors,

Tried differnt combanations of pXX.imap,mail.me.com for incoming none work

Apple tech support are useless after 1 hour run around i gave up, mean while im unable to get my mothers mail configured on OS 10.5 Mac Book, imap is the only option as its no able to run Lion due to age, this is crazy.

I even work in IT configuring mail servers/exchange etc etc - now I know why im NOT an apple fan !

Ive also changed her icloud password and still does not work, any help would be great.

I can log into icloud no problems from iphone or supported web browser

Are we sure imap is offically supported for icloud connections ?

I had the same problem for 3 days, but today... I've had account which has difference between icloud e-mail and ID. I try to fill password field with id's password and it's happened! My icloud mailbox is working!

Indeed, this p0x- server prefix seems to be an issue for me as well. I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 Windows 10 64-bit with Outlook 2016 (32-bit). After installing the iCloud for Windows PC app I could receive emails and sync calender on p01 but couldn't send via the smtp server. Re-installing or logging out and in again did nothing! Interestingly, I noticed Apple support pages for setting up mail on Outlook (pre-iCloud app) used the smtp.mail.me.com address without a p0x- prefix. So I went into account settings in Outlook, removed the p01- from the smtp mail server (I left the imap server with p01- prefix), and all emails in outbox were sent :-)

I also went into the Security section of my Apple ID and generated an app specific password, and used that instead of my normal email password. I didn't have to do this on my desktop after the Windows 10 upgrade, but for some reason I did on the laptop!
