Service command in Preview.app - Send PDF as attachment doesn't work

I have used the following workflow for month on all my three macs.

I open up a PDF file in Preview and select "eMail PDF as attachment" from the Edit menu at the top of the screen. This will attach the current viewed PDF file to a new mail message.

I guess after updating to 10.7.2 somehow it stopped working on MacBook Pro and iMac. My Mac mini is fine.

When I do use this command I get two error messages. Service not available. Can't attach PDF to mail. Import failed. Something like that.

Does anyone know how to fix that? I repaired permissions and did all that kind of stuff.

Is it safe to completely discard the ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview folder once it's been moved?

I deleted the moved ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview folder after a couple of weeks. Never needed it again.

Ok, I am having this problem, but I cannot find that folder anywhere. I am running 10.7.4 This problem has persisted for quite a while, I had it before the last OS upgrade too.

Thomas, thanks for the info. It worked for me.

And I just used the brute force approach: Went into Library/Containers and deleted the com.apple.Preview

1) Quit Preview, and

2) open terminal

3) run the following commands

cd Library/containers

rm -rf com.apple.Preview

that's it. worked like a charm for me. thanks to Thomas

in preview 6 there is a "share" button you can add to your toolbar. it is one more annoying button but it spares you the search for the library file...

closed/quit preview - then restarted preview from launch pad. "email" reappeared as an option when looking to send .pdf's/files via email from preview.

I'm using Yosemite (Preview version 8.0) and I couldn't figure out how to send a PDF via email. Thanks to bjena, I discovered that the trick is to use the share button. (I control-clicked on the toolbar, and then chose the option to show icon and text, instead of just icon, and then I noticed that the share button was already on my toolbar. Clicking on share brings up the "Email" option.)
