How do I delete the photostream album after turning photostream off?

I briefly turned Photo Stream on, then realized that I couldn't use it because I don't have iPhoto '11, so I turned it back off. Now when I go into photos on my iPhone I have another album called "Photo Stream" that's still present despite the fact that I've turned Photo Stream off. How do I get rid of it?

I understand that you can't delete photos from Photo Stream, that's not what I'm asking to do. I just want to get rid of the album itself now that Photo Stream is no longer turned on.

Nevermind I figured it out

I had to turn it back on, actually take a photo and wait for it to upload to photo stream, then turn it off and confirm the popup warning me that all photo stream photos on the device would be deleted...this also deleted the album

Greetings! I just figured it out!

1. In Iphoto - Highlight the photo stream album you want to delete

2. Cick on Photos in the blue navaigation bar at top of screen

3. Click on Delete Photo Stream. A box will come up to ask if you want to import the photos to your Iphoto first.

I did this right on my iMac so not sure if this works same on iPad or iPhone!

Good luck!

Quick question- how are you accessing Iphoto- I have the Iphone 5 and there is no photo app, I can't find my photo stream, or albums.. all I have is the camera app and I don't have any buttons/icons that say photo stream, albums, or anything .. I am desperately trying to access my photo stream on my phone and can't find any answers anywhere how to do this...

You're awesome! This worked for me as well. I was stuck with a rogue photostream album with 400+ photos that I had already deleted from the cameral roll. There was no option to delete the album or the photos inside, the only options were to share or to add the photos to a new/existing album. dnaumov's solution worked like a charm. My other legit photostream album got deleted too but that's okay. Thank you so much!

And just like that, I figured it out 🙂

Unticking the "Sync Photos" options in iTunes on my PC and doing a sync made the ghost "Photo Stream" finally dissapear from my iPhone. No idea how or why, especially considering that "My Photos" folder on the PC where iTunes was set to sync to/from doesn't actually contain any photos, but the mystery Photo Stream did.

When I activated Photo Stream.. it created a folder in my picture are a on the phone.. I then proceeded to turn off photo stream and it asked me to confirm deletion of the photo stream folder.. I said yes.. and it was then removed from my phone photo section.

As for space.. do you have music on your phone? and if so did you put all you music on or did you select. When I first put music on my phone I forgot to uncheck all in the sync.. and it basically downloaded all my musich from my iTunes. I had to back in and select the music I wanted this freed up a lot of space that was instantly gone when I sync the phone the first time.

Just a stab and thought that might be part of your space issue.

Thanks dnaumov!

I have an iPad and an iPhone with a mysterious "Photo Stream" filled with photos I could not delete.

Using iTunes on Windows, I synced both my Apple products.

But the iPad sync showed the mysterious "Photo Stream" folder.

This was unchecked and then sync'd again.

The mysterious "Photo Stream" folder disappeared from both Apple products immediately.
