Here is the troubleshooting attempted:

After weeks of frustration and wasted time this simple one gained me 5Gb back. Try this before you buy any software or spend hours with restore.

Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data

I still think it's a bug in the OS related to Safari and hope Apple do something about it, but I hope the above helps some out there.

I had 6GB of other on my 16gb 4s and just restored to my itunes back up. Other now at about 1GB. We'll see if it lasts.

One thing I want to point out is that my backup restored my current ios (7) and didn't upgrade to the latest. I found that hard to confirm online. I gave up on it today thinking that I would just have to upgrade and wiped my phone and restored but was happy to see that it is still at 7. And the other is reduced.

This is one of those issues that apple won't fix properly though, I don't imagine, while they're selling cloud space and brand new phones...

Good luck.

I struggle with the same issue. 9 GB of "other" on a 16GB iPhone 6. I've tried everything. The Phone Clean application can get about 3GB of storage free, but after 30 minutes it's all used again. I have also tried to reset my phone completely and install everything manually from scratch (no backups used). That gave me 7 GB of free space (after apps installed), but only for 1 day. After that I had 0 bytes available.

What can I do? This issue is driving me crazy!

Follow the below steps and it will remove the "other" storage from your iphone.

First check the space remaining in your iphone by going to Settings, General , Storage & iCloud Usage. Note down the used and the available storage.

1. Go back to Settings and click on icloud

2. UnCheck Safari. When it prompts, select the "Delete from My iphone" option.

3. UnCheck News. When it prompts, select the "Delete from My iphone" option.

4. UnCheck Calendar if necessary. When it prompts, select the "Delete from My iphone" option.

That is it. Now again goto Settings, General , Storage & iCloud Usage. Check if the available storage is restored.
