iPhone 4S "no service" problem

hello all,

Just got my iPhone 4S 18hrs ago and it wen to "no service" like 3 times (so far)!!

  • I have changed carrier setting to manual I can select my network but still "no service"
  • I turned on then off "airplane mode" it goes searching... then "no service"
  • it only work when I restart or reinsert the SIM

Is this common? do I have to worry ?

Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks,

I had the same problem today, once I put the phone on airplane mode then turned it off it showed service again. If this continues I will take it back to the store.

Yesterday I changed my microSIM to another one. I suppose that it is so new that it will be 128K....

By now, my iPhone is working well. I still have not missed a call. Today in my train journey, I'll put it on fire test (when I drive during a call, I have a feeling that, caused by changing radio antenna, my iPhone loses the service).

I'll tell the results.

Same issues here, but on the 3GS. Ro read a lot of articles, videos, possible solutions what the problem could be. First signal went away for short whiles, then longer and longer and now (also updated to IOS6) no signal at all. When selecting manual mode for carier I can see some phone cariers. Sometimes it picks up signal with all bars but still not able to make calls.

Simcard is working perfect in other device, and sim of a friend who has another provider has exact the same issues, so Sim is not the issue I think.

Tried a full restore; not working.

Checked the hardware if the antenna cable was loose; not working.

Resetted network settings a lot of times; not working.

Signal in foreign country; not working.

Now ordered a new module with antenna, microfone etc replacement to check if it is hardware related but the longer I read forums I don't think this is the issue.

iPhone has no simlock and is out of warranty so I think I have to pickup a new one.

Same issue for me with an iPhone 4s: 'no Service' failure appeared on last 27th when the software update to iOS6 was detected. So I updated to iOS6, but nothing changed.

I read possible solutions on the net, but, as described by most of you, nothing worked (neither full reset).

I've been isolated for 3 days, this is not acceptable:

I can live if I have a failure in one of the milion useless app, BUT A PHONE Is first of all a PHONE and no software update should jeopardize thi PRIMARY FUNCTION!!!

Really disappointed by Apple and its business model, I still wait to sede how it will be' solved.

I feel sorry for you iPhone issue.

Mine also suffer the same "no service" issue. I did research for any workaround like resetting network, try enabling/disabling airplane mode, even restoring to factory default. It seems that all those workaround is temporary, works at the beginning, but eventually, the same issue, "no service"

My phone was working OK for the first month with slight warm. After that, sometimes it went hotter and "no service" issue came oftenly, especially in area where no 3G.

I end up swapping the unit.

If you have the chance to visit the place where you can claim for warranty (e.g. Apple store, or the Carrier, or place where you bought), you can try claim the warranty.

Don't be surprise if your next unit still suffer the same issue. I heard a friend swapped the unit 4 times, as the first three was no good, and the 4th one works just fine.

Hi Luiggi7,

I am having the same problem of all of you here, actually I had 3 calls dropped today because of the no service annoying issue. I had my 4S changed once a few months ago, didnt get better at all. I have read you are from Madrid, what if we go against Apple together? We may find somebody else in Spain to join us. I am thinking of looking for professional assistance (OCU or something similar) what do you think?

Thank you!
