hello all,

Just got my iPhone 4S 18hrs ago and it wen to "no service" like 3 times (so far)!!

  • I have changed carrier setting to manual I can select my network but still "no service"
  • I turned on then off "airplane mode" it goes searching... then "no service"
  • it only work when I restart or reinsert the SIM

Is this common? do I have to worry ?

I had the same problem today, once I put the phone on airplane mode then turned it off it showed service again. If this continues I will take it back to the store.

Hi Dave,

I am so far disappointed with Apple. This saturday I went to AppleStore again, and I got a new iPhone 4s (third change since I bought it). After 4 days of using it, today I has 'no service' in my iPhone since 9:30 am.

This is shameful....

I agree with you, and I think we sholud do this by the legal way.

I am from madrid. Write me in my email adress and let's talk. We can deliver a request to OCU and sign it all we have this problem, for now residents in Spain.

What is your ultimate goal here? Is it to get rid of the phone and get a refund or to get Apple to fix your phone? The only way you are going to "fix" this problem is to be willing to give up on the phone. Some people are willing to live with the "No Service" issue so they can keep the all mighty iPhone. That was not the case for me. I had 4 iPhone 4S's, 4 SIM cards, countless hrs on the phone with Apple playing the restore game, etc. etc. before having to ask my self what was more important. Good luck in trying to get this resolved.

My one goal is to have my iPhone 4s working properly, just it...

But if Apple doesn't know how to do it, I think they must do whatever to give me a good service, I don't care if they gotta give me an iPhone 5 or 4s, while one of them works well. Remember that I paid a very big price for a new mobile which nowadays is not working!!!!

Assuming that I have to live with the no-service bug of a 700$ mobile, is shaming... I agree with you, the fight and the cost of claiming for what I should have, could be bigger than giving up. But understand me please, it is unbelieveable.... an iPhone is also a mobile, don't forvige it, and I need to do many calls daily, and now I can't do it. But it is not all, because I don't loss only some calls... I cannot use Whatsapp, or Mail, or browse some webs....

Why someone would buy an iPhone with no possibility to make calls or Internet data???? In that case, I have would bought an iPod Touch, so I would have the same features that I have nowadays with mi current iPhone, just music.

Apple!!!! You must solve this!!!!!!!!!!!

I have every freeking problem on my iphone5 as described in all the forums here... dropping signal when LTE is on , horrizontal lines in app store , dimming of screen to minium by itself, it dosent reconnect to signal if i am out of coverage area for more than 10 mins like in my lab which in in the basement, it gets too hot after a few minutes of gaming, and battery Suks. And its fcukng prone to scratches.

Now the best part they replaced my phone and my replacement phone has the same all problems , so i know this is in all the phones for sure ( because my friends have the same problems in their iphone5 as well) and NOW WE CANT EVEN RETURN OUR PHONES BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED. FCUK you apple and your iphones. As holes. They fcukng tricked me into replacing my new phone with a service phone so that i cant return it.

I have 64GB white ATT.

hello, been reading through some of the forum. i have an iphone 4s unlocked that i purchased to run on O2 in London roughly 4 months ago. it was working relatively fine (although very poor call quality compared to other handsets i have used on 02).

anyways, i updated IOS a couple days ago, and now i have the "no service issue". i have been to the apple store, but they expected me to wait a week to see an advisor at the "genius" bar. i have spoken with phone support a few times and tried a lot of fixes on this thread (phone restore, network reset, etc). Unfortunately, none of these fixes seem to work and I cannot make or recieve any phone calls..

anyways, really not sure what to do. also its Friday evening and I cant even phone customer services as my phone is not working at all

I also had the same problem and changed my sim. My new sim is 64 bit again, my provider does not support 128 bit. Changing the sim did not work at all. By using a micro sim adapter I used the sim with my older samsung phone for about a day and a half. Not a smart phone very old one. Then i just wanted to try again inserting the sim to my iphone. I turned of the cellular data, put the sim and there you goo.. I have a stable signal.. Then i turned on the cellulaar data after a couple of hours, it works fine too. Everything is normal.. I dont understand what has solved the problem but its working now.. Magic?? ;))

they didn't trick you at all, you had the option to get a iPhone 4S/4/5, which I did, why? because im not complaining of all these problems, they shipped the iPhone 5 out way to early to try and keep up with rivals but still its shotty work, and personally the most stable is a iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1. Never, Never buy a "electronic" first few months of arrival, Always, always bugs and kinks.

I don't really think it solves the problem, nor you neither none of us. Have yue wait for a week? For example? I wish you have discovered the final solution... but I am very depressed... I have heard someone that using a normal SIM (nor micro, neither nano) and cutting it to make fit in the mobile may be the solution.

Nowadays, I have atleast a call dropped a day, and many times I don't have data signal to send receive whatsapps / emails / browsing / etc.... Every day!!!! There is no day which I have a completely day with a properly phone with data!!!!

Apple do something!!!!!!! Right now!!!!!

Sincerely.... I am a still iPhone's customer because so high price I paid for it, otherwise I'd buy a Galaxy S3, no doubt!!!!!

Very dissapointing.....
